My friend is from an upper working class background. She grew up in a terrace house in an industrial town. Both her parents worked but they were never flush with cash as her dad had issues. My friend however likes the finer things in life. She loves travelling to expensive destinations and come across as posh and a bit snobby.
She says this is because her grandparents were wealthy. Which is true, her grandfather was a businessman but the family fell on hard times. In the 1930s they had factories and several houses, they went to boarding school etc, but her dad was an alcoholic so had no money.
AIBU to think that your own upbringing has more impact than times you never lived?
