WIBU to go back to my doctors about my breast despite clear mammogram?

One of my breasts had a lump appear over the summer, so I went to the doctors and they referred me to the breast clinic. Tests were clear except for an infection detected which was treated with course of antibiotics. Discharged from clinic, happy and relieved with the outcome. Fast forward to today. My breast doesn't feel right and hasn't felt right since the lump first appeared - it's so much denser and feels thicker than the other and in the last fortnight it feels like it's getting bigger and denser and my nipple has started to invert. I just feel this cannot be right but would I be unreasonable to go back to my doctors about this? Writing it out I feel like I couldn't be but I just felt they had been so comprehensive at the breast clinic that what more is there to know.

You won’t lose anything by going back. Any new changes should be investigated.

MinnieGirl · 06/10/2024 17:54

You know your body. Go straight back and ask for another referral back to the breast clinic.

Bloopy2 · 06/10/2024 17:54

Yes go back. I had a clear mammogram but still had BC.

Jojimoji · 06/10/2024 17:55

Of course YANBU.
If you are worried go back.
Particularly if you've noticed changes. It's probably nothing, but they'll be able to put your mind at rest

Headabovetheparapets · 06/10/2024 17:55

You have new changes so definitely go back

SummerFeverVenice · 06/10/2024 17:55

Yes go back. You are describing symptoms of second most common breast cancer- lobular which doesn’t create lumps and it is very rare for it to be picked up on a mammogram. If you can go right back to breast clinic, do that.

Thanks - I will call them tomorrow and get on it. This was the nudge I needed!

Didn’t want to read and run - I agree with PP - get back to the Dr and insist they investigate more. I hope you get the help you need quickly, whatever that proves to be. Sending hugs.

100% go back. I had clear mammograms and had BC

Flibberdigibbit · 23/10/2024 12:45

I had my appointment, and unfortunately it is cancer.
It is a massive, massive shock. Don't know yet the grade / stage / treatment plan - lots more tests and a long road ahead. Scared but hoping to find it's still at the curable stage. All thought, prayers and good wishes gratefully received.

So sorry to hear that, and so glad you went back. Sending lots of good wishes, I hope its not too overwhelming but I can't imagine it's not x

ShamblesRock · 23/10/2024 12:50

So sorry to hear that,

SLRUS · 23/10/2024 12:53

I'm sorry OP. Sending love and strength

Funnywonder · 23/10/2024 14:48

Oh my goodness, what a shock for you. You obviously did the right thing by going back. Wishing you all the very best with your treatment and recovery.
