...to think I have the loveliest DH in the world?

I'm sitting here in my well-worn and unglamorous pyjamas, laptop on my knee, working on my latest book. The sun is streaming in through the French windows, and spring has indeed sprung.
DH comes in with a coffee for me, and says..."You look so beautiful sitting there in the sun. I'm so proud of you, and the luckiest man alive."

Readers, I'm going on 75, and he is 76. I have glasses, wrinkles and gardening hands, carrying a little more avoirdupois than recommended. Beautiful I am not. Is he lovely, or what?

This was lovely to read!

Today my DH sent me this text from the office. Totally random, and sooooo like him (hearts and flowers he is not!):
I feel very grateful to be married to you.
In reply, I sent him a photo of his favourite apple and blueberry crumble I’d just taken out of the oven. True love, I tell you ❤️

Love this...😍

This is lovely. After all the shit life has to throw at us, he still thinks you are beautiful. I am similarly blessed and it is indeed worth the whole world

Thiswayorthatway · 02/10/2024 22:48

No I have the loveliest DH in the world 🥰

It’s very nice. It’s a lot easier for older men to be romantic once they give up their youthful male ego and realise they haven’t got a chance to get anyone else anymore so will be nicer to you

What a shitty response. You really didn't have to say that.

outdamnedspots · 02/10/2024 22:50

Lovely post, OP. Enjoy the sunshine, your dh and the cats! 💜

There is always one Confused

OhcantthInkofaname · 02/10/2024 22:52

I'm going on 75 and I'm jealous.

Lansonmaid · 02/10/2024 22:53

That is lovely to read. I hope you have many more happy years together.

My DH is lovely too, we've been together 43 years and he has a way of looking at me that melts me. He says he wouldn't swap me for the world.

Overcompensating, probably having an affair, LTB.

😂😂😂

Love this post 💕

Today my husband to be (4weeks to go! Eeek!) sat holding my feet in the dentist for 2 hours whilst I had two fillings done. Yes I am a grown woman who is TERRIFIED of the dentist I'm ashamed to say 🤦‍♀️. He sat there and squeezed my toes to stop me shaking bless him. Some good men out there.

GreenTreesPurpleSky · 02/10/2024 22:59

Aww…❤️ so lovely to read this!

pollyglot · 02/10/2024 22:59

Diversion - thank you for your lovely post. Actually, it's because of the supportive MN people, and especially @ScottBakula that I discovered the confidence to write. (I wrote a thread...to want to...a year ago.) Since then I have written three books and am 33,000 words into No 4. There are some extracts on that thread.
Most of all, however, it was the wonderful Mr Glot who has always told me that I have a book in me, and to get on with it.

I'm a similar age and know for a fact my DH is not the loveliest man in the world. He's bearable though, so I'll settle for that. 🏆For your DH.

That’s a bit cynical. I’ve been with my husband for 30 years and he’s been romantic and devoted throughout.

I love to hear about great marriages and lovely husbands on here.

pollyglot · 02/10/2024 23:03

Thank you, everyone for your lovely posts. I'm so happy to hear how much love there is out there, and how much joy.

How lovely

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 02/10/2024 23:07

Beautiful I am not

Bollocks to that. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. He has beheld you, and found you full of beauty. Therefore you are beautiful.

Emiline · 02/10/2024 23:09

What an uplifting post. My DH is not always perfect in my eyes and I’m sure I’m not always perfect in his either but he utterly adores me and me him. Write that book @pollyglot.

To the people who don’t understand why spring has sprung, not all on this forum live in the UK. It’s so short sighted to presume that. I often see posts with faux surprise that other countries have different school holidays to England or the weather is colder/hotter at different times of the year. For goodness sake widen your knowledge of different countries.

Classic love bombing 🚩🚩🚩

simonsayss · 02/10/2024 23:11

I think we can all agree that by 75 we hope be in the company of such love and comfort.

Acornsoup · 02/10/2024 23:12

Could be. How long has it been op? ☺️

mrlistersgelfbride · 02/10/2024 23:14

I'm nearly half your age and don't believe in love anymore....but you seem to have found it!
How gorgeous 🥰
So happy for you both!

It's been only 25 years so far, Acorn. Perhaps it will take time to fade, do you think?

Maybe the spring air is making NZ men feel particularly loving right now... I woke up to a message from my boyfriend the other morning saying he was thinking about how amazing I am and how lucky he is to be with me.

Glad you have a good one, OP, and please ignore the people trying to rain on your happiness.
