heart block / ECG ???

I was in hospital and had an ecg which I saw said something along the lines of first degree heart block but otherwise normal

i was in for a cardiac incident and had a lot of medication to fix my irregular heart rate and this ecg was recorded after the rythm was fixed.

nobody mentioned the heart block- does anyone know is this likely just from all the medication i recieved rather than true heart block? i should have asked but i was so tired i forgot!

Don’t panic! The ECG machines interpret the trace (and often get it wrong) heart block is something it often comes up with and will print onto the ECG, what really matters is the doctors interpretation. If you do have heart block there are different degrees, first degree heart block can be caused by medications it sounds like you may have had such as beta blockers (that reduce heart rate) or calcium channel blockers (that reduce blood pressure)

1st deg heart block is something the machines do fairly reliably spot but it’s not usually a problem on its own unless it’s reeeeeally prolonged (which is something even the dimmest person interpreting an ecg would spot). HTH.
