I am large busted as well and past menopause.

About 18 months ago I finally went to a decent bra fitter and ordered three of the Elomi Matilda bras. They are very pricey. But instead of having a motley assortment, I have three well-fitted high-quality bras. Actually four -- 1 a blush pink that passes for neutral, and three black, as I mostly wear black tops.

They gave me a trial bottle of washing liquid that preserves the fibers and I found it on Amazon afterward. I make up a small spray bottle of the liquid and spray the bra thoroughly about 20 min before my shower. Let it sit in the bathroom basin or hanging from something in the shower. During my shower I rinse it thoroughly and re-hang.

The Matilda bras are mostly a sort of mesh/tulle -- nothing I ever would have thought to buy but I love the support and the breathability of them. I also like that they dry rapidly. So for two or three minutes effort per day, I always have two clean black bras from which to choose, while the other is drying.

That and as others have said an astringent toner in the under-breast area helps. Keep it exfoliated so there isn't a lot of dead skin under there. You can exfoliate economically with ordinary sugar or even a handful of bicarb.

You need to wash your bras more often.

This. How can you only wash a bra once a week? That’s gross.

Suzuki70 · 29/09/2024 21:48

Don't wash bras on a hot wash! Ever! It destroys the fabric and the structure.

Hoosemover · 29/09/2024 21:55

I use anti-perspirate roll on under the breasts. I think it part of getting older I guest.

Rewis · 29/09/2024 21:56

Mine does. Kinda. Not like to outside but if you stuff your nose right in it. It's just big boobs that fold over so there is no space to breath. I sometimes put deo. It's like armpits in a way 😃

BloodyAdultDC · 29/09/2024 22:00

Once a week is really grim op. Treat yourself to a couple of new bras and wash after every wear.

Wearing for 7 days and washing won't give it chance to get all the grime out of the fibres of the fabric.

outforawalkbiatch · 29/09/2024 22:00

@BettyBardMacDonald I love that bra, I must have 10 colours!
JD williams often has good sales/discount codes so I usually buy from there and pay about £25-30 per bra

DeliciousApples · 29/09/2024 22:01

I'd be wary of using talcum powder due to the mixed advice on whether or not it increases cancer risks.

TossedSaladandSE · 29/09/2024 22:02

Tell your GP

They'll give you a fungicide powder or cream to apply

worcesterpear · 29/09/2024 22:04

I had this before and I agree it could be a fungal infection. What I did was use antibaceterial wipes, then a medicated talc. Wear no bra whenever possible and once it has healed, wash your bra regularly.

shizukana · 29/09/2024 22:05

A product with tea tree oil works a treat.

Wow, that is a great price; I'll look into that, thanks! Been yearning for a few more colours! thank you.

Sudocreme

stayathomer · 29/09/2024 22:07

Summer I wash them daily winter 2/3 times a week but actually this year have noticed am sweating more under the boobs too (am 44 size 38a)

ButtSurgery · 29/09/2024 22:08

I'm the same. Proper soap is the only thing that's working, and I've doubled my bra collection so they can be washed every 2 days now. I only wear 100% cotton tops which helps too.

I've also tried using anti fungal washes, but they didn't do as much as a bar of soap has been.

For antiperspirant, I'm using the bar type Mitcham. The cream ones now smell horrific on me, and I've used them for years!!

BettyBardMacDonald · 29/09/2024 22:10

That is a good point about soap. Proper soap. Chemical shower gels and body washes and the like (aside from being a depressing source of plastic containers) just don't do the job. Use actual soap.

Puttheneedleontherackets · 29/09/2024 22:12

I didn’t think it was that gross as they never smell and I shower every day, seems things are changing

I wash mine after each wear, I don’t think once a week is enough especially if you are sweating. I’d wash them all on a very long, very hot wash and shower or wash your body daily.

Goodness, how many bras do you have?!
I could never afford to do this....

Mill3nnial · 29/09/2024 22:13

If you're swearing or smelling there of course you should wash your bra more often than weekly

They dry overnight. I wash mine after each wearing and I only have four.

espressomartinii · 29/09/2024 22:32

@BettyBardMacDonald what is the spray you use please? I'm a HH and recently discovered Elomi. All my bras are now the Matilda too. The shape and extra lift it's given me has changed my life (Which sounds a bit daft I know).

Hi @espressomartinii fellow HH here!!

tbh i do not recall the name and am not home now. It wasn't Woolite but I am sure Woolite would work; I just put some of the concentrate in an empty spray bottle, add warm water and spray the bras till they are soaked through. Keep the spray bottle handy in the bathroom.

They sit whilst I am preparing to shower, then easy enough to rinse out during the shower. As you know they dry fast even indoors; outdoors it wouldn't take half an hour.

I agree Matilda has changed my life. Even the fitter exclaimed "It gives you a waist!" Plus the bras are attractive and feminine rather than looking like industrial-strength body armour. Definitely will be part of my budget from now on. I am 60 and have become thick around the middle so the uplift and shaping is a godsend. :)

CharlotteStreetW1 · 30/09/2024 13:18

Also make sure you dry very thoroughly after a bath or shower (sometimes I use baby powder).

WinterAconite · 30/09/2024 13:34

I wash the area with soap daily and dry it so don't have that.
