To ask what is your flexible hybrid job that meant you can keep your career?

Edit: title should read "To ask what is your flexible hybrid job that meant you can keep your career AND be a present parent?"

There's a thread about how parents are juggling
career with parenting and the people that have said one thing which really helps is having a flexible hybrid job.

Would people be willing to share what their flexible hybrid job is?

Since having DC I don't feel like I can return back to my career (demanding finance role) it offers no flexibility and generally requires being in the office for long hours, taking clients out etc. I am trying to research a career I can be successful at but one which allows flexibility. I would love to hear what parents of those lifestyles do for a living.

Many thanks in advance x

I work in marketing. I don't earn a finance type salary, but the money is decent enough (50k), I work 4 days a week, only have to go into the office once or twice a week, and can leave at 5pm to pick my daughter up from nursery.

I work at a university, full time hours but do 10 days in 9, over a fortnight. We have a high trust culture in our team, you are expected to work core hours (10-4), but it’s flexible generally. We have busy periods and quiet periods

Flexible is a 2 way street in my world. I have a job in funds management, full time, 3 days in the office 2 at home but can flex that over school holidays/ for appts etc. I take time out Friday afternoons to pick my dc up and take them to basketball, I don’t use before school care so office days I start at 9:30, I get to the occasional Monday assembly when my kids class is doing it, etc. I do lots of late evening meetings as it’s global and evening and weekend work to keep on top of things, the occasional early morning (if it’s important dh has to start late to do the dc) dial into important meetings while on holiday. dh is great obviously and the job is great, but that’s what flexible looks like for me.

In house finance at the right company. I left Big 4 and it was the right decision. No client commitments, home a majority of days, earn enough to have ‘Rolls Royce’ childcare and a cleaner.
