Toothbrushes!

We used to keep 2 bathroom cups, 1 for toothpastes & 1 for toothbrushes. But the toothbrush cup got manky slimy wet gunk in the bottom regularly. It was grim to clean & grim to hold my brush knowing the end had been in the paste-y tacky gloop. To avoid this I'd need to clean it every other day which basically isn't going to happen (don't judge lol). Kids won't clean it & tbh I don't want them at the cleaning products yet especially spraying ones near our toothbrushes. Kids seem incapable of not putting toothbrushes back unless still dripping wet btw.

Other iissue is in a cup, toothbrushes can fall to touch heads. We all find this ick and kids then refuse to brush teeth until new toothbrush provided.

Found the holder in pic which has been perfect in so many ways. Separates brush heads, has drain holes, came treated with microban. However over time the microban has been beaten & it now grows black colonies down each holder with alarming speed! Impossible to clean fully as so narrow.

What're ppl doing to manage these issues? Am I missing something. I don't want anything that needs drilling into walls etc. But all I can find are cups or ones where the brushheads will again risk regular contact!

Ready to be enlightened 😀

My electric one sits on its charger, but it does collect toothpastey gunk at the bottom that is a bit grim, even though I rinse it really thoroughly after each use. And the little hollow that the charger sticks up into has to be cleaned out with a cotton bud occasionally so it doesn’t get mouldy. Not a pleasant job, and the reason I don’t get how people can share the bottom bit of the toothbrush. Mine’s horrible but at least I know it’s only my spit in the mix, not anyone else’s.

People are suggesting electric toothbrushes, but the base of my e-toothbrush's charger is always dirty. Any solution for that? I wipe the toothbrush before putting it on the charger.

We have a Joseph Joseph organiser and it has individual sections which we keep our toothbrush and our razor in (5 adults/teens here).

We have these too! They're great but yes you do still clean them @OP.

SURI electric toothbrushes- the wall holder is magnetic, so the water runs off and doesn't collect at the base and go all manky like any other toothbrush I've had.

Just a plastic cup on the side of the sink. Toothbrushes are rinsed and dried before going back in, so no gloop.
