I am looking to buy a DFS sofa. I hesitantly bought one years ago which was expensive at the time, but it ended up being amazing. It was worth the huge delayed waiting time. The sofa lasted a decade, and survived a house move. It would have lasted longer to be honest.

We have had another couple of cheaper sofas since which have been terrible. The current one we have is awful, so we are looking to replace it. I have now seen a sofa in DFS that is going to cost £3000. We love it, thought that's the one, measured. Then I went through to the online checkout and added sofacare which added £300 on; with paying so much I thought it will be worth it. Then it adds on another £128 for delivery. The price is now just under £3500. I left the gliders off because I thought the price is just getting ridiculous at this point.

It seems that they don't give you free delivery, free gliders, or anything at all if you spend over a certain amount. There isn't even a box on their website for a promo code. I am in love with this sofa, it fits my room perfectly, but the price is more than what we really wanted to spend.

Do they do anything in store, or is it set in stone?

I made a purchase instore for my DFS sofa and we did ask if they could offer a better price. They removed the delivery charge and by the end the sofa care was also removed. We ended up just paying the cost of the sofa. It is worth asking!

@Element4056 thank you for replying, I have just spoken to somebody who called me back from the online chat. They removed the delivery, but not the sofacare. When was it you made that purchase if you don't me asking? The lady said she couldn't do anything else, just the delivery cost.

DFS business model is to sell
Payment plans, the sofas are secondary .

I didn't do sofa care for my last one years ago, because it seemed like a con. This time I have because it extends the warranty from 2 years to 5 for more than just some stains i can take care of myself.
It covers everything and there is no limit on the amount of times you can claim. I also got a reclining type of sofa so this means they'll fix absolutely anything that goes wrong for the 5 years, including any problems with the strength of foam, replace cushions etc. This together with the 15 year guarantee on the springs and frame you get as standard seemed worth it. I am hoping will see me through for a decade!

I bought a bed from DFS at the beginning of the year. It was broken when it arrived so I called to ask them to pick it up and send a replacement. The customer service was horrendous, they had to send someone out to check the bed was faulty, which took 2 months and then another month to come and collect it. I got a refund in the end, it was a nightmare and would never buy from them again. You just need to Google DFS customer service reviews - there are so many and on the most really bad!

Oh, sorry you experienced that, how frustrating. I have never bought a bed from them. The best sofa I have ever had was from dfs, which is why I am going back. Due to the sofa not having a single fault in the decade we had it, I never dealt with customer service (apart from during the delayed delivery). I do know they're poor though. The customer service for my current sofa are excellent, but the sofa itself is appalling! I guess you really cannot win!
