Posting here shamelessly for traffic... I'd like to take my 10 yo coeliac for a real treat - he LOVES afternoon tea and I know there are some super cool places in London. Can anyone recommend somewhere that is coeliac safe (understands cross contamination) and really fun? Thank you all...

(AIBU to ask - prepared to be told I am but google hasn't helped me much and I'd love personal recommendations!)

I don't know but have you tried the Facebook group 'Coeliacs eat out too'? I find this group very useful

Brigit's Bakery might do, and they have their bus tours too which look cool.

Thank you - I'm not on that group - I'll have a look!

Go to any real 5 star hotel. They will have no problem accommodating your DS.. I hope he loves it, you sound like a great mom. Let us know how you got on.

It’s probably worth ringing or emailing the main places that do fancy afternoon teas and asking if they can accommodate. Many don’t advertise gf options, I went to the wolseley for dinner and they accommodated really well for my coeliac needs. I’d be surprised if they didn’t do a good one!

one aldwych have a Charlie and the chocolate factory themed afternoon tea. I had the gluten free version there a few years ago

Great ideas!!

One Aldwych is meant to be great for coeliacs. I was very disappointed by the Ritz, admittedly a few years ago now - the scones were crap, clearly frozen and defrosted.

Ampersand Hotel they do a Jurassic dinosaur themed one and a science themed one so might be of interest for a 10 year old. There's a gluten free menu.

Will admit I am considerably older than 10 but have booked for the science one.
