Had to beg to get my hormone blood tests done and….

I AM waiting to have a call with the doctor to discuss results, but basically after years of being told I have anxiety, I begged for a hormone panel.

Finally got one and, lo and behold, they’ve all come back abnormal.

I know I need actual medical advice but my call isn’t until 11 and I need to know if I have something to worry about!
I don’t know what any of them mean. I’m only 27 and my:

  • Serum LH is low
  • Sex hormone binding globulin is very high
  • serum follicle stimulating hormone is low
  • Serum oestradiol level is very low

All keeps coming up is menopause but surely not.

Please can someone either put my mind at ease or put me out of my misery 😭

What cycle day was it and are you on any hormonal birth control?

PopPopPopPopPopPop · 24/09/2024 11:03

It was day 17 and I am on Lucette but I’ve only just started

Like started the day of the blood test or the week before? If you’re on BC your sex hormone tests will be meaningless. Also d17 is a weird day, usually these are measured at d3 ish of the cycle.

I’m now extremely anxious!

My doctor called me to say I have abnormalities which could mean a hormone disorder, but they couldn’t be more specific because they’re not experts. He’s writing to a gynaecologist who will be in contact within 2 weeks!! 😱😱

Is there anyone private I can see to discuss results sooner??

I’d imagine you will need to see an endocrinologist- hopefully they can get to the bottom of it.

PopPopPopPopPopPop · 24/09/2024 15:10

You’re right - I don’t see why they’ve written to gynae rather than endocrinology?!
I just feel like they don’t have a clue what they’re doing, and I’m sat here with so much worry over these results ☹️

Unfortunately, this seems to depends on surgery. My GP practice seems to just schedule you in for blood tests on any random day they choose 🙄and then they're like 'well, sometimes your tests are abnormal, but some came back normal'.
