Posting for traffic: women with endo or adenomyosis

Sorry for posting here but I’m really worried! I was diagnosed with both endometriosis and adenomyosis a couple of years ago, but I’ve never had any symptoms, however since late Saturday night I’ve had bad lower abdominal/pelvic pain. It started feeling like period pains, then I started to feel like it was maybe trapped wind or constipation. Currently if I lie still it’s pretty much fine, just a dull ache/feeling of weight in my pelvis and lower back, but if I move around I get sharp intense pain. I can’t stand up straight without pain, although I think it’s better today than last night. I’ve had moments of pain in my vagina (not vulva) and aching in my lower back, but most of the pain come from my lower abdomen/pelvis. No vomiting, no fever, so I’m guessing it’s endo related, but I’m looking for women with endo to confirm if this sounds like it.

I have CPTSD which is ‘triggered’ by hospitals so I’m trying to avoid a&e, just in case you were wondering!

I have both and yes, I can relate but if you are worried (which it sounds to me that you are) I think you need to get checked out because it’s not normal signs of your endo/adeno so could be something completely different.

The symptoms you describe are similar to mine (endo only) so it could be that, however, it might not be. I think you should call 111 and ask for advice.

Thank you for the replies. I’ve spoken to 111 and they’re getting my GP to call me within 2 hours, but honestly, I put more faith in womens experiences with endo than a doctor! Is it normal for it to hurt a bit more on one side of your abdomen than the other? Everything just feels really tender and bruised.

I do just have a fear of what if it’s something else, I find hospitals so difficult, but I’ll have to wait and see what the gp says I guess.

Definitely sounds endo related. I have endo on my bowel too and often have those symptoms. They'll only see it on an MRI so don't let them fob you off with an ultrasound.

Thank you, I did wonder if maybe it’s spread. One thing I should add is my period isnt due for 2 weeks, I don’t know if that makes I less likely to be a flare up.

I have both and yes

I mostly get right side ovary pain which is like a hot knife being twisted. Dragging pain in my vagina or random flashes of pain
Period type pains or it feels like I've got a UTI
Varies from nagging cramps to "I need morphine now and can't move" type pain

Frosty1000 · 23/09/2024 15:35

Yep, have both and my uterus and bladder are joined.

Pain is a dull but burning sensation that comes and goes. Bowels are painful too.

No rhyme nor reason for when pain comes, sitting too long, sitting on a hard chair, standing too long, bending too much you name it, it causes pain.

Hope you feel better soon
