(LIGHTHEARTED!!) Two years ago I lost some weight due to illness but it was a bonus as I was a few stone overweight. A lot of my clothes were then too big so sold a huge haul on Vinted. I gave, of course, now put all the weight back on (😩😩😩😩) and find myself searching online for the exact Hobbs mac I sold because I loved it and it went with everything. I'm now remembering dresses and jumpers and jeans that I sold because I was convinced I was never ever going to put weight back on. So Mumsnet, WIBU to contact all the women who have my old wardrobe and ask them to sell it back to me??!! 😂😂😂

Oh please do. You would have the thread of the year award if you told the unfolding story here. 🤣

LivingDeadGirlUK · 22/09/2024 10:29

I've done the opposite, bought the same in a bigger size lol

safariled · 22/09/2024 10:29

lose the weight

win on every level…. clothes and health

MonsteraMama · 22/09/2024 10:30

I think that'd be completely reasonable. In fact, you have their addresses, gather the troops and rock up at their house to reclaim your lovely mac. It's the only way.

I have their addresses!!! I forgot about that. Right, I'm taking next week off work and going on a huge road trip to reunite my wardrobe.

I knew someone whose husband took the wrong bag to the charity shop so she had to rush over and buy all her clothes back 🤣

Can't believe the charity shop wouldn't just give the clothes back!

henlake7 · 22/09/2024 13:24

Yes! Beg, borrow or steal to get those clothes back!😁
Im the opposite.....bought a bunch of new clothes when I lost weight and donated them all to the chazza when I got fat again.
Now Im skinny again and kicking myself that I chucked so much stuff out!

Me too!! It was genuinely the start of me coming out of a really badly disordered eating patch - realising I could stop trying to lose weight (I am a perfectly healthy weight) to fit into my favourite shorts and just buy bigger shorts and accept my changing body shape.

A couple of years ago my 89 year old mum had to go into a care home so we decided to rent out her flat so we could put the money towards her care.
Within a couple of weeks she was taken very ill and we were told to prepare ourselves for the inevitable. This even involved organising the undertaker to collect her body.
We were having to empty her flat for the tenant, so sent bags of stuff to the charity shop, including the entire contents of her wardrobe.
Mum then proceeded to make the greatest recovery since Jesus and lived another 18 months!
We never told her that the only clothes she owned we the few bits she had in the home, no coat or shoes!

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 05/03/2025 15:02

Did you buy anything good when you were bigger? Maybe regain the weight to fit back into that? :D

In all seriousness, I have an "in my dreams" box of stuff I intend to fit back into, inc. stuff like bras that are too expensive and have shit resale value (K cup).

This would be an excellent premise for a slightly unhinged fly-on-the-wall/road trip documentary. "Bowlsbaby lost some weight, but now she's lost her mind. She has a week to pull herself together on a sartorial mission nobody has ever tackled before."

Commenting to say dibs on buying the film rights.

This sounds like a heartwarming comedy and I fit one am in.

I hope Sophie Kinsella is on here - Diary of a Vinted-regret-a-holic...

Huuuugebelly · 05/03/2025 23:28

This is telling me that I should keep hoarding those thin me clothes, you never know!
