DD has a few friends coming for a sleepover soon and one thing she was going to suggest was a movie - what are your favourite films for this age? DD loves Mrs Doubtfire, recently enjoyed Inside Out 2. Wondering if there are any recent films we've not seen they might enjoy, but also what are your classic kids films?

We watched School of Rock last weekend with DD (10) & DS (6) - they both enjoyed that.

God, we’ve had to watch that so many times. My 9 year old also loves it.

Anything from studio ghibli

LeafHunter · 20/09/2024 20:51

Cool runnings. I remember loving it as a yr6 so I’m guessing it’s appropriate? Otherwise stuff others have said like school of rock.

Monvelo · 20/09/2024 20:52

My girls (10, 7) enjoyed "Are you there God, it's me Margaret" tonight. Made me reminisce about being that age when you're all discussing who will get their period first etc :)

That was so bad we walked out of the cinema, possibly because I had idolised the book in my head for so long but Dts found it so dull.

Greatest showman, legally blonde?

Really depends what your kid is into.

ChristmasPostman · 20/09/2024 22:31

Adored in turn by all my daughters. We still refer to the bog of eternal stench!

I unashamedly love this film!

almondflake · 20/09/2024 22:56

Splash with Tom hanks and Daryl Hannah. The spiderwick chronicles , my kids loved time bandits, the secret garden and my son was absolutely enthralled by the old black and white version of Jane eyre . All of the pirates of the Caribbean films are fun and the back to the future films , big with Tom hanks is an oldie but a goodie too as is batteries not included .
