Not wanting to offend
Just interested in the facts please.
Are trans women that have NOT undergone surgical ( transformation?) more likely to offend against women that were born female? Or not?
Again - not wanting to offend - just wanting hard facts. Thank you

A Swedish study found that sex-reassigned MTF had no effect on criminality:

"In this study, male-to-female individuals had a higher risk for criminal convictions compared to female controls but not compared to male controls. This suggests that the sex reassignment procedure neither increased nor decreased the risk for criminal offending in male-to-females."

The study didn't have data on what surgeries people had had, and it wasn't looking at crimes against women specifically.

Long-Term Follow-Up of Transsexual Persons Undergoing Sex Reassignment Surgery: Cohort Study in Sweden - PMC (nih.gov)

The closest studies I could get to what you were asking was to look at recidivism rates for sexual offenders who have been castrated (as castration is a close analog to surgery + hormone treatment trans women get, though obviously it's not the exact same thing). It's not definitive, but some studies seem to show massive reduction in crimes against women among castrated offenders. But that's just looking at the people who are committing crimes, it's not about higher or lower risk overall.

Uh... not sure that answers your question, but all to say that transwomen aren't any worse than men at crimes in general, and it wouldn't be surprising if surgery lowered risk of sexual crimes against women... but I couldn't see definitive proof that it does.

The treatment for transsexualism is sex reassignment, including hormonal treatment and surgery aimed at making the person's body as congruent with the opposite sex as possible. There is a dearth of long term, follow-up studies after sex reassignment.To...

'Rape' doesn't require a penis, women can rape men.

In public opinion, yes absolutely. I think technically in law though the crime is sexual assault or sexual assault with penetration if the 'offending article' (not sure what else to call it, apologies) is anything other than a penis.

Of course none of that changes the absolute horror of the crime, irrespective of the sex or gender of the perpetrator and victim or the article used.

TimelyIntervention · 20/09/2024 20:07

Oh, I read your OP as are women more likely to be offended by, rather than offended against. I was going to say women do not hold one common viewpoint!

Id be surprised if there were many stats on this, given that none of the authorities deem surgery relevant to whether or not someone has transitioned.

The specific offence of rape is a bit different because, in England at least, it has to involve a penis.

I give up. I read something a while ago about transwomen raping biological women in prison and I was just wanting bloody facts. Jesus!!!! Arghh

I guess one of the things the trans women in prison have in common is that they’re criminals.

We might as well be asking “are criminals more likely to commit crimes”

Tiredallthetimeneedsleep · 20/09/2024 19:50

Ok to be blunt
Are born male trans women with everything intact more likely to sexually assault than trans women who have had surgery

( I was trying to not offend anyone but I don't think that's possible on here )

Maybe try making sense and not offending the people you want to answer your daft question.

No idea. There is no evidence that a trans person offends any more or less than if they didn’t identify as trans.

Also this 😂

gay men who are in prison are also more likely to rape other men, funny that!

thursdaymurderclub · 20/09/2024 19:44

the answer is no! men offend against women, women offend against women, women offend against men...

LOL. Maybe a crash course in statistics. Men offend vastly more against everyone. VASTLY.

Move to another board. This is not a AIBU.

Err how exactly? A man is more likely to rape another man.

I think people will get offended no matter what I say. Some people read and comment. Some people just scroll on by and get on with their lives. Some people will always go down the thought process where, posters are flamed for asking a fucking question with no fucking intent.

More likely than who ?

HollyKnight · 20/09/2024 20:30

Rapists rape. Being trans doesn't turn someone into a rapist nor does removing their genitals stop them from being a rapist (although it would prevent PIV assaults at least).

Entangledlife · 20/09/2024 20:32

@Pandasnacks The legal definition of rape is when a person intentionally penetrates another's vagina, anus or mouth with a penis, without the other person's consent

My sister has a M to F trans neighbour. No operations, just a man dressed and made-up as a woman. She/he has a lesbian girlfriend, I just don't get it.

People cannot change sex, no matter how hard they try.
XY cannot become XX {or vice versa}

What is really bizarre is XY who pretend to be XX and say they are ''lesbian''.
So basically they are a straight XY who likes to dress in women's clothing who is sexually attracted to women [?]

Another thing, the clothing is so often ''feminine'' - as opposed to sensible jumper and trousers that many women wear.

The girlfriend must be bi. No lesbian will want to be with an anatomically correct male. 🤷‍♀️
