Sometimes, I see people who have a thing or things which I can't afford. How on Earth can they afford it when I can't afford it? It makes no sense.

I assume most of the previous posters haven't been on MN very long if they don't 'get' it's a TAAT (or about many, many threads).

It's not even just what people can afford, I never realised there were so many people who were completely unable to conceptualise that other people led lives different to their own (let alone that doing so didn't automatically mean their way was right and any alternative clearly wrong!)

The best example I saw was on a random post, I think about trying to get a toddler to put wellies and coat on before going out in the rain or something, that another poster responded to with 'but it wasn't raining today.' I mean, wtaf???
The armchair detectives thinking they've found a plot hole because 'It isn't half term though?' or 'but schools haven't gone back yet,' are pretty common as well.

Yes, I’m always baffled by those threads. In my workplace there are people who earn £20k, £50k, £100k, £300k, £900k, £3m etc. Trying to keep up with the work Jones’ would be impossible.

I've found it's almost always inheritance. People don't talk about it and like to pretend they've earned what they have but generally, if they have a lot more than you'd expect, it's inheritance.
