I have 3 dc, youngest is 9 months and I have not claimed as I thought there was a 2 child cap, I've just seen on hmrc app says there's no limit on how many children I can claim for? Do people receive cb for 3 or more? Uk

Child benefit applies to all.kids, its the child tax credits that are capped at two.

No limit on 3+ children, unless you earn over 60k (I think it is now!). It’s only UC that caps 2 children unless exceptional circumstances.

Child benefit is for all children. All 4 of my children receive it.

Oh my I've missed out on almost 10 months of money lol...

Agree with everyone else. Claim on the app now. Can be back dated up to 3 months, don’t delay.

Definitely move fast and get what you can backdated.

I think there's a lot of confusion 0ver this, not helped by the media describing all of it as benefits, when some is benefits, uncapped, and some is credits, capped. Mostly for sensationalist headlines, but resulting in people not claiming what they are entitled to.

It definitely is the way the media call it the ‘2 child benefit cap’ which confuses people! For Universal Credit they only consider the first 2 children, but for Child Benefit you can claim for as many children as you have.

I think they can backdate it for 12 weeks so get applying today.

I only found this out when my youngest was five - could have kicked myself!
