Just read that Hugh Edwards ahs been given a suspended sentence.

And if course it's not his fault. He had a mean Daddy and some mental health issues and some bad things going on in his life, poor lamb.

All that made him say 'amazing' when sent photos of children as young as 7 being molested.

Despite all the news coverage, I am still just boggling at the kinds of men out there. Overwhelmingly, the reports suggest that a man in any level of power seeks to abuse that power sexually. It's jaw-dropping! I cannot compute it all. Why is it an adjunct aspect to 'power'? How do these men continue to exist and yet they do.

I don't disagree about men....but I find it disturbing to attribute CSA to power alone. It is a total perversion - pure and simple. In no context is it normal to sexualise children - doing so is absolutely not 'normal' and inherently unnatural.

CSA, is also about the 'repetition compulsion'. In other words, these men repeat behaviour that they themselves experienced as children. Not condoning by any means. Utterly sickened by it all.

There are obviously men who don't abuse children, like there are obviously men who don't abuse women - However it is usually males who do commit these types of crimes for whatever reason.

Everytime I hear someone say MAP I always say no Paedophile! We were talking about it in work the other day, how watering down the language makes people think that it's not as serious, it's important to keep the serious language! MAP indeed!

The longer I live, the more i believe the answer to this question is a resounding 'no'. And the more I despair at having to entrust the maintenance of law and order and the running of our legal institutions to such people. Even having women at the helm doesn't rescue us. They're often as keen to throw other women under the bus as men are, but to what end, and what they seek to gain by doing so, is even harder to fathom.
