Went to do washing yesterday, seen that some items had slipped out the basket and had been lying on the floor, we'd had a flood a few days ago, ( washing machine broke down ) so we bought a new washer and so on.

Anyway, there was a few items that must've been laying in the water, as they'd fell out the basket, they had some white/green fluffy mould on.

I put them on a quick wash, then a 60 degree wash. However MIL just came around and said that was disgusting and I should've thrown these clothes?

I obviously checked the clothes after, they had no mould remaining, and no smell to them either. - they'd been in the wash for a total of FOUR hours on the hottest setting.

aIBU to of kept these clothes? it seems an adult waste to throw them because of something so small as a bit of mould that has since been removed

Yeah this is what I did, but her words have stuck in my head. Because 2 of the items belonged to DD ( 5 ) she made it out like I was putting her at risk if she wore the clothes again.

Don't let her enter your head and stay there .
See it as a throwaway comment . Let it go.

Your MIL has no idea what she’s talking about. Ignore her. Of course you should keep the clothes, they are perfectly safe.
