Outside London, what do you earn and in which area of law?

i am on 65k in a commercial area, mid size firm. I feel like they’re taking the piss but I do get a lot of flexibility… I feel like I trained loads and got into debt but still not actually feeling the benefits!

It definitely sounds on the low side OP but there’s a huge amount of variation between regions and depending on the type of firm. Also depends on what level you are, PQE isn’t everything, are you a senior associate or equivalent?

It depends where live, North vs South East England for example. All if the recruiters publish salary guides so this is pretty easy to benchmark.

An NQ at our firm qualifies on 55k so that sounds on the low side for 8 years PQE.

Surely you should be Associate/Senior Associate at that level?

I’ve seen some firms advertising for lawyers for 30k recently though. Made we wonder who the hell would take that job!
