To eat this some nights before bed?

Maybe about 4 nights a week I'll have a bowl of oats or homemade muesli before bed as I'm craving it sometimes. The following day then I won't eat till lunchtime. I actually sleep better the nights I eat this. I've no extra weight gain, am about 9 stone.

Is this bad for me and should I stop?

9/10 is a normal dinner time in this house!! Often midnight.

Not bad at all. Oats contain melatonin and trytophan which are both sleep aids.

As an insomnia sufferer, I’m starting to consider porridge at night instead of for breakfast…

Listen to your body. If you feel and good and are not overweight then it's fine. I do 16/8 so only eat between 10am and 6pm each day. I've got used to going to bed with a slightly empty stomach. If I ate late now, I feel uncomfortable full and don't sleep well.

Why would it be bad for you?

ForHardyOliveExpert · 13/09/2024 12:47

OP everyone's bodies are different. Especially women! If something's not good for you trust me you'll work it out pretty quickly.
Happy oat-ing

Nothing wrong with a middle of the night bowl of cereal. I've had many over the years. 2am was always a good time for one😊

independencefreedom · 13/09/2024 12:52

Ofc it's totally fine seeing as you then sleep well and are a healthy weight

If it works for you then I'd go for it all the time! It's just like having breakfast the night before.

That's a good way of looking at it!

I was just concerned that it may mess up my digestive system in some way, but most of these posts are reassuring - thanks.

If you're worried about digestion you could think about swapping out the milk for natural/live yogurt (I am completely convinced of its health benefits, rightly or wrongly!)

And a big glug of kefir!

I love nothing more than my 10pm bowl of muesli most nights and I sleep like a log!
