Would you be annoyed if your vinted order arrived wrapped in a bin bag? I've ran out of postage bags and the option is wait a few days for them to arrive OR get the order out wrapped in a bin bag that smells strongly of plastic.

YABU - wait for the postal bags
YANBU - the faster the better, I'll wash it anyway!

No it’s fine. I’ve had orders in bags for life and black bin bags. As long as it’s not anything fragile it’s fine.

GreenShady · 12/09/2024 14:44

I've had all sorts! I would go for it!

Monkeysatonthewall · 12/09/2024 14:45

I had parcels arrive like that a few times as didn't bat an eyelid

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 12/09/2024 14:47

Sounds fine, just make sure it's thick enough to cope with being chucked about en route and tape over any minor holes or tears it may have.

Limth · 12/09/2024 14:52

Nope, no problem at all. Just wrap it up in some bubble wrap or newspaper underneath the bin bag.

If you're concerned, message the buyer with a breezy "Hi, I've posted your order today. I ran out of postage envelopes so I've improvised because I wanted to get this to you quickly"

RandomUsernameHere · 12/09/2024 14:56

If it smells then it's not ideal. A bag for life taped up would be better, or a cardboard box. I always just reuse packaging from stuff I have ordered.

redtrain123 · 12/09/2024 14:58

Maybe put it bin a carrier bag, or if small enough. A food bag first. I’ve done that before.

I usually recycle the packaging that clothes arrive in (tend to turn the bag inside out).

CCLCECSC · 12/09/2024 15:01

I've had stuff turn up in all sorts. So long as it's suitable for the item being posted, secure, well wrapped etc it should be fine.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 12/09/2024 15:03

No I use bin bags and all sorts. Amazon packing is good to reuse, and cereal boxes / shoe boxes etc.

Sartre · 12/09/2024 15:04

No, I use whatever I can find tbh- supermarket carriers, bin bags, old packages.

Daisylookslost · 12/09/2024 15:08

No

phoenixrosehere · 12/09/2024 15:13

I wouldn’t but some people do.

I sell bits on Vinted and write in every listing that I use what I have lying around my home for packaging (clean, of course) and if it is an issue, don’t buy from me.

catherinewales · 12/09/2024 15:17

I put a big order in a carrier bag then a bin bag over. I made sure it was all taped up properly.

Ballacarn · 12/09/2024 15:25

Black bin bags are not really strong enough in my experience. An inside out bag for life would be better, with plenty of strong tape.

Jk987 · 12/09/2024 15:33

Re-use postage bags that you've received from other parcels.

poppymango · 12/09/2024 15:35

Totally fine! As long as the item itself is protected and arrives in good condition, it's all good.

GreenShady · 15/09/2024 21:51

@Mamabear04
