Why do people do this? (Light hearted)

When we are eating out sometimes I will obviously have food in my mouth and someone will ask me something. Then they sit looking at me confused waiting for me to answer. While I'm chewing and swallowing my food.

One family member will keep pestering me to answer. Like I haven't heard her or ignoring her.

IANBU To answer them with food in my mouth and hope they don't do it again.

YABU No that's disgusting you don't eat with your gob open.

I sometimes put my hand in front of my mouth and say "Sorry I'm eating." Other times I make an expression as I chew to indicate that I can't talk.

I don't think Ive ever met someone so obtuse that they couldn't see me eating and therefore unable to answer. That's because I'm chewing.

I would ignore those people, eat, swallow and then answer, while taking my time. If they say why did you take so long to answer me, I'd say, I was eating.

Don't answer, it's gross! 😂

I've noticed the more thoughtful members of my family do not do this and simply remember their question til I'm done with my bite. It's the impatient, selfish ones who jump in because it couldn't possibly wait 2 seconds 💁‍♀️😏

I'll have to try that next time. This family member is a narcissist does it multiple times at the same meal. So understandably it pisses me off. If I say I'm obviously eating they get in a right strop. If someone else says it they stfu for the rest of the meal. They also talk about stuff they shouldn't in a restaurant💩
