To send dp to the ikea sale tomorrow.

So Ikea are doing a 21% off sale tomorrow. Am wondering whether to send dp over to try and get the sofas we looked at out last week or whether I'll be sending him into hell for something he might not get anyway and on his precious weekend off.

So has anyone been to one of their sales? Are they likely to be a la the Edmonton one where 7000 people turned up and 6 people were hopitalised and the crowd rioted? Or are they more civilised these says?

And is it a sale on just what's in store that minute or stuff you'd order too? Their T&Cs don't make it that clear.

YABVU, i wouldn't wish a saturday in ikea on my worst enemy and your DP would be a fool to agree to your (cunning) plan

YANBU if you are planning on divorce

Flibbertyjibbet · 19/04/2008 00:17

Why don't YOU go then if you are so keen on the sofas?

Then you'll find out what the sale is like and whether you can order stuff.

You can send him, if he is willing to go, but don't expect to see him back any time soon. I personally myself would rather stick pins in my eyes than go to an Ikea sale.

gigglewitch · 19/04/2008 00:21

YANBU, I would not risk ikea on any saturday, least of all in the sales

good luck "persuading" him

Ok - first off it will be hell on earth (I refused to work it, I'm working on Sunday to clear up the mess the ravaging hoardes will make) but it starts at 6am, so that might be a good time to go. Breakfast will be free between 6 and 8 for Family Card holders (hot dogs will be 21p all day)

Second - it's shopping in store only, so you can't get the discount online, sorry and we won't carry the discount over if we happen to be out of stock.

All stores will be open 6am 'til midnight.

Can't think of anything else atm.

It's to celebrate out 21st birthday (21 years in the UK to be exact) so say Happy Birthday and please try to be nice to the poor suckers co-workers who are stuck working it.

Well, I didn't make him go, he was kind of keen. And he would rather he went rather than me, and I certainly didn't want to take the dcs there too which was his other suggestion.
So he set off an hour ago, he's just rung to say he's got them, that its not too bad there, and he's now having a leisurely browse...worth it for #200 off I reckon.
