The bloody thing is not cold enough. We had this problem when it was four months old and it was replaced, now the same thing is happening again and the bloody thing is only a year old!!! I'm SOOOO peed off! We've lost loads of meat and fish as it's all gone off. I've had a thermometer in there over night and through today in it's never gone lower than 10 degrees!!! Crap, crap, crap!

have you defrosted it?

We have a "frost free" Bosch freezer and it still needs defrosting every six months or so. If we forget to do it, it struggles to maintain it's temperature, and it rises.

StressTeddy · 18/04/2008 21:24

see, you can't beat a Tricity bendix???

RiojaLover75 · 18/04/2008 21:28

??? Defrost it?? It's a frost free, it's supposed to defrost itself! Are you serious about having to defrost??

yes, i'm serious!

Honestly, there are lots of reasons why the condenser could get iced up...the kitchen could be very warm; it's next to another appliance, you open the door a lot, you store food that isn't sealed and airtight.

try it, it will do no harm. look in the instruction booklet and defrost it. if it still doesn't work, call the service engineer!

Out freezer is in a cupboard under the stairs that gets very warm, and the air doesn't circulate around the back of the freezer very well. If we forget to defrost, we notice that the temp is climbing. I can usually hold off a defrost for a few days by leaving the cupboard door open and turning down the radiator in the kitchen, but I have to do it in the end!

Plus, if you try an claim on the warranty, and you ahven't defrosted it, you'll look a bit daft!

I have a Bosch frost free - next to a tumble drier, with the radiator next to that.

It's 2 years old and I've never had to defrost it. (Didn't even know you could!)

tissy · 18/04/2008 22:21

look at the troubleshooting section of the manual!

cocolepew · 18/04/2008 22:34

we had this problem, the Bosch man came out and removed the circuit board (bear with me bad memory) and replaced a sensor in it. The fan wasn't working right. He told my dh that it was a common problem and Bosch was aware of it. I'll try to think of it better and come back!

WorzselMummage · 18/04/2008 22:57

our bosch frost free freezer isnt really frost free but doesnt need defrosting either.. if you know what i mean.

mamablue · 19/04/2008 13:06

oh dear this is worrying me. I have a four month old bosch dishwasher which broke down last night mid cycle!! I was quite shocked to need to call a repair man after four months even though it is under guarantee, still frustrating. Now have no dishwasher for 4 days and will have to spend all day weds waiting for an engineer who is coming between 8am and 4pm!!!

RiojaLover75 · 23/04/2008 22:55

Yippee!! Bosch engineer came yesterday and fixed the FF. He defrosted the freezer/ fan essembly etc and changed the 'brain box' of the machine with some new stuff which should tell the FF to defrost itself every 12 hours and not 18 hours as it was before. Bosch know about this problem and that's why they've changed the circuitry. Aparently the engineer says you should never have to defrost a frost free FF and nothing we had done had caused the problem, it's a known fault with Bosch, phew!

Anyhoooo we are more than happy with the service given AND the engineer arranged a new 2 year warranty which started from yesterday.

We have a fridge that runs at 3 degrees now!! Still miffed about loosing soooo much meat and dairy produce though .
