I've been googling and I think this might help me with some bowel issues I've been experiencing for the last couple of years since I had my last child.

My dad says it's all nonsense and 'clap trap' and to avoid. My husband is open to doing it together as an odd date night 😄😄

YABU it's silly
YANBU do it

Any recommendations for the Hampshire area?

He was only joking but was basically saying he'd be up for trying it too. We're a family with various stomach/bowel issues!

I've checked those other threads and they've not really had any replies🤷‍♀️ I didn't think it was much of a taboo subject but also doesn't seem to be that popular on here.

It really helped clear up my ibs and understand what was causing my issues. I lost weight and just generally felt better afterwards. I went regularly for years til my lovely lady retired. Check ARCH for a registered therapist in your area.

We sometimes have to do bowel washouts on children at work. (Nurse) the kids who can talk say they feel really good afterwards.

I once did a two week fasting holiday in Thailand where it was part of the treatment (every day I think) - I didn't have any particular gut problems though, so can't really comment.
Find a good treatment centre and they probably have a lot of online advice, and should be prepared to discuss with you before you book - a reputable clinic will be interested in your health rather than just sell, sell, sell.

I did it after i was put onto tramadol (I'm off it now). I was blocked up to my eyeballs and felt puffy swollen and horrible.
I went off to a colonic with some trepidation because I'm old and fat but they were great. I felt amazing afterwards and I've been fine ever since. And the stuff I saw coming out of that tube bleughhh no wonder I felt awful.
You MUST take decent gut bacteria capsules afterwards though as it does strip your gut of the good bacteria.

Its good for other things too, endless diarrhoea can be a sign of a bad blockage further up, we used to see this a lot as nurses.

I didn't think it was a thing anymore

You might want to look into SIBO. There are antibiotics which can safely reset your intestinal bacteria and even cure IBS in some people. But washing your bum out is a good first thing to try as it’ll be a laugh at the least

TeaAndCakeFTW · 04/09/2024 23:14

Do it, it cured my ibs. I went monthly for a while, took aloe vera shots each morning, drank green tea.
