I’d buy a stone cottage in the Cotswolds with a natural swimming pond and a flat in Notting Hill for when i got bored.

I would rescue 3/4 dogs (would be a gradual process as my current dog shepherds away dogs I show affection to)

Buy siblings and parents a house.

And probably foster. My job would come in the form of investing in female education in my grandparents’ home country. And something to do with the elderly here.

I’m a homebody so apart from a first class trip to Sydney I probably wouldn’t live too much a jet setter lifestyle.

Buy a manageable house set on a large plot so I never heard any neighbours.

Refurbish and renovate the house to a high standard with future proofing so I never have to move. Spending money on a lift, a good annex/suite for live in carers or house sitters, then really lovely sofas, comfy beds an amazing kitchen, cinema room, hobby room, workshop, garden rooms and storage etc.

Invest enough to give me a sensible income to live very comfortably and travel for as long as I could.

Buy a small holiday cottage somewhere I really like.

To give me something worthwhile to do, I would set up a philanthropic fund to help those in need and spend time and thought running that and getting involved in community matters and good causes. Everything from youth support, helping families in need with things like education or care assistance, animal shelters etc. A sort of quiet general benefactor.

I've realised my list was tiny compared to everyone else's response!

How much exactly have I won?!

herecomesautumn · 05/09/2024 13:42

And based on another thread I'd book a first class flight somewhere just for the experience

I have no idea how ordinary mortals can afford that

coronafiona · 05/09/2024 16:28

Buy my children and my family a house, and my lovely friend who struggled so much. I'd bloody love to give her enough that she would be mortgage free.

DoAWheelie · 05/09/2024 16:39

A bungalow in my city with an indoor swimming pool that has a glass retractable roof so you could pull it back and convert it into an outdoor one for the summer while still having privacy. I'd also put in one of those giant blowers you see in theme parks to dry you off after you get off a water ride - I can't stand the feeling of towels touching me when I'm wet (sensory issues) so I'd love to be able to avoid that after swimming and showers.

Hire a cook and a housecleaner and a driver. I'm disabled with very limited mobility and struggle with housework and getting out and about so this would give me a ton of freedom I don't currently have.

I'd also pay for IVF. My late OH and I really wanted kids but he died before we got the chance and I don't think I have enough time left to find someone else and have kids naturally.

I would move to America to live, nice big ranch house, lots of amazing holidays, live an amazing life basically.

KvotheTheBloodless · 05/09/2024 16:46

Keep my job, because I enjoy it and need routine/purpose, but go part time.

Probably buy a house in the village we live in, with room for a swimming pool. Hire a gardener to deal with the large and private garden.

Go on some nice holidays.

Give my parents, siblings, aunts/uncles and cousins money. Give lots to charity.

OneTC · 05/09/2024 16:47

Buy and convert a unimog and go climb wherever, whenever

Helloworld56 · 05/09/2024 16:53

Buy a larger house close to where we live now, (retired and no mortgage) and employ cleaners and gardeners. A large pantry for storing jams, chutneys and lots of freezer space for veg, taken from a large veg plot.A heated pool would also be good, with pool maintenance done by someone else. A room just for crafts, and an orchard.

Pay for medical care for two family members who are very unwell and struggling to access care on the NHS.

Donate millions to my children's state schools.

Donate a million to a local charity that cooks wonderful meals for homeless and impoverished members of my community.

Donate to a local charity that provides support for asylum seekers and refugees who are pregnant or are new mothers.

Secure housing for my children.

Buy a not massive house that was in good order.

Pay off the mortgages and student debt of everyone in my extended family.

Have at least 4 rescue dogs.

Go and do a frivolous degree like Art History.

fruitbrewhaha · 05/09/2024 17:13

I’d buy a catamaran and go sailing. Before which I’d hire a superyacht for a month and take my friends on holiday for a week at a time.

LookItsMeAgain · 05/09/2024 17:38

Something I'd love to do is I'd buy my siblings out of our family home and submit a load of planning applications to add extensions to it and do work etc. (would annoy the old neighbours but they have been absolutely horrid over recent years when they were getting their own work done to their properties so it would be no skin off my nose, especially considering I wouldn't have to live there while the work was being done).
I'd buy a new home for me and my family as I'm not happy with the location of the one I'm currently in and I know there are nicer ones out there with nicer neighbours.

I'd make sure that my kids, nieces and nephews were set up for whatever they wanted.

I'd finally get the car of my dreams.

If it was a really big Euromillions jackpot (say over €80-90m) I'd donate to charity.

Lastly, I'd give up work and follow F1 around the globe and get a lifelong membership to the Paddock Club!

Squiggle13 · 05/09/2024 19:19

Ahhhh the dream every time I enter!

I would give a reasonable amount to family and friends.

Set up trust for DC, not a ridiculous amount but enough to buy first house etc.

Buy or build a dream house in my current town or just on outskirts. Nothing too big but all the things I’ve always wanted, library, walk in wardrobe, lovely outside entertaining space!

CLEANER & GARDENER!!

I would buy a flat in London & Barcelona.

Quit my job.

I would donate to charities close to my heart and both in my local town and abroad.

Even though not for everyone, I would send DC to private school.

Lots and lots of holidays!

YellowphantGrey · 05/09/2024 21:04

As well as building my own house and paying off my mortgage, I'd open a not for profit bookshop and coffee shop. I'd also make sure nurseries and schools had enough books and ensure every child had access to books.

notprincehamlet · 05/09/2024 21:21

Get my roots done and have a lie in.
It must be incredible to wake up knowing you have the time and money to spend the day doing whatever you want wherever you want.

Summerflames · 06/09/2024 08:16

coffeelateperson · 04/09/2024 19:28
