I’d buy a stone cottage in the Cotswolds with a natural swimming pond and a flat in Notting Hill for when i got bored.

I would rescue 3/4 dogs (would be a gradual process as my current dog shepherds away dogs I show affection to)

Buy siblings and parents a house.

And probably foster. My job would come in the form of investing in female education in my grandparents’ home country. And something to do with the elderly here.

I’m a homebody so apart from a first class trip to Sydney I probably wouldn’t live too much a jet setter lifestyle.

I'd buy absolutely everything any of my friends & family wanted.

I would move to Slovenia or Norway.

I would run some kind of competition to find 100 couples who require IVF treatment and I would fund their treatment & all that comes with it until it either A worked or B they chose not to continue.

I would buy 9 million miniature schnauzers.

PandaWorld · 04/09/2024 18:56

First and foremost, buy myself a lovely house. Then buy 2 cats to keep me company. Hire a cleaner as well. I don't want much, just my own lovely house.

tobee · 04/09/2024 18:56

Oh yeah and give money to Monkey World 😊

MorrisZapp · 04/09/2024 18:57

All the usual stuff, gifts to my family etc and two major indulgences:

A flat in York that I will pretend is for everyone's benefit. It will actually just be for me.

A man called Jim to drive me wherever I like in a skilled and courteous manner. Beige car coat, driving gloves, that kind of thing.

TinyYellow · 04/09/2024 18:58

Love this game.

I’d do a shitload of internet shopping and already have a mental list of websites that will be the first I visit when I win.

Refurbish the house, landscape the garden, then consider moving somewhere else. I’d buy homes for the closest family then invite all my friends and family on holiday and would give them all spending money. There would be a lot of holidays.

I’d buy my school everything it wants and set up some kind of charity organisation that would provide extra qualified staff to help schools meet children’s needs.

LoveSandbanks · 04/09/2024 18:58

I’d retire (I’m 56 so not particularly early) and concentrate on my health and fitness. Buy a bigger house, but not necessarily our forever house as ds’s still need to get to college relatively easily. Buy a crash pad by the sea. Buy a crash pad overseas (France or Spain (or maybe both))

make sure my children were financially secure for life.

Perzival · 04/09/2024 18:58

My youngest ds has many disabilities and will never be able to live alone so...

I'd set up a supported living accomodation for people like him with everything they need, it would be a community possibly even like a small town with a shop, pub, gym, small cinema etc. Good transport facilities so they can go out and appropriate we'll trained staff. I'd put it all in trust for him so the la/LA's pay for the placements and upkeep etc. Not would be overseen and monitored to reduce possibility of abuse or mistreatment.

I'd set up a trust for my other son too.

If there was any left I'd redecorate the house and go on a very nice holiday.

DeCaray · 04/09/2024 18:59

I would use every penny in helping to stop Greyhound racing.

Pickingmyselfup · 04/09/2024 19:00
  1. Buy a bigger house
  2. Go on a massive family holiday
  3. Hire a PT, a coach and nutritionist
  4. Upgrade the rats cage and make it twice as big
  5. Make sure I had a big chunk set aside for the kids future
  6. Give some money to friends and family
  7. Cut my hours/quit work
  8. Hire a cleaner
  9. Buy a new car
10. Get a dog if I wasn't working 11. Go on a shopping spree

In an ideal world my husband could cut his hours/quit work too and between us we could alternate school drop offs and pick ups, have leisurely lunches and just enjoy not rushing around. We could have decent holidays yearly as well as the obligatory Butlins if the kids are still insistent on going.

It's very much a fantasy I wish I was living but I do wonder what would happen if I was living it. Would we be any happier or would we feel worse? Our problems now could be fixed by money but once you fix them will you be met with a sense of dissatisfaction because something that can't be fixed with money will take their place?

Differentstarts · 04/09/2024 19:01

Firstly I'd quit my job. Then I'd buy property in new York, greece, florida and the home i live in now. I'd give large chunks of money to family and friends, also to charity. I'd buy a new car. Hire a team of staff as a nanny, tutor, cleaner, cook, pool boy etc then I'd travel between my properties for five to ten years then I'd sell them and buy 3 different ones in different countries and repeat.

DilemmaDelilah · 04/09/2024 19:02

Thanks for the reminder!

First and foremost, I would retire.
I would give all our children £1m each
I would set up trust funds of £1m for each of our grandchildren.
I would look for my dream holiday cottage. A small stone 2 bed fisherman's cottage right on the beach.
I would buy next door and have a small indoor swimming pool extension built, and join the two houses and gardens together
I would have our dream holiday, of a river cruise
I would book a short break or some kind for every month, with a really nice Christmas break as well (unless my children actually pull their fingers out and we get an invitation to spend Christmas with one of them)
I would set up a charity to provide an educational fund to help single women with children to to university.
I would set up an account with a taxi firm
I would buy a new electric car, or maybe two
I would get fresh flowers delivered every week
I would get magazines and books delivered monthly

That's about it. As you can probably tell, I haven't thought about it at all!

I wouldn't tell a soul!

I think they'd figure it out when you put a heliport on your roof

Enko · 04/09/2024 19:06

Buy a house.

Buy our children. A house each (and give them a couple of millions each)

Give our 4 siblings some money likely a million each

Make sure both my dads are sorted and OK (in truth that will mean very different things for them one likely carers and cleaners, the other big holiday with his girlfriend)
Pay for my friends dd to go see the best private doc we can find to work out her long covid issue and how to get through that and then pay for her to return to uni.

Pay for my youngest 2 cousins to take their partners and children to disney world (their kids are the perfect age)

Retire

Get another dawg...

ncforcatquestion · 04/09/2024 19:12

would just buy a house and breathe a sigh of relief

Awww bless ya if I win I will find you and buy you a house 💓

dothehokeycokey · 04/09/2024 19:16

I'd buy. House each for my children.

I'd buy my sibling and her partner their own house.

I already rescue and foster dogs in my home so I would open a rescue centre

I'd also buy a property in a few different places inc outside of the uk that all the family can use when they like.

I'd spend my time looking after the rescue dogs and volunteering at local food banks etc

I own a business and although I love the creative side I hate the admin side so I'd pay someone full time to do all my business and venture admin as well as household admin

HelloCanYouHearMe · 04/09/2024 19:24

I'd set the kids and close family and friends up, move house, buy a new car, quit my job, travel and give a lot if not most of it way if we're talking obscene amounts of cash being won.

elm26 · 04/09/2024 19:25

I would buy land where I currently live and build my dream home, 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a toilet, a dressing room for DH and I, big open plan living room and kitchen, a snug with a real log fire place, a playroom, a lovely big garden with a heated pool, lots of flowers, bushes etc planted looking out across the hills.

I'd put some away for DD, help my parents out and buy a new car.

I'd buy a home in Lake Como looking out across the lake.

I'd open a rescue for animals, acres of land.

I'd donate to a few charities including cancer, children's hospitals and I'd and bucket list wishes for terminally ill children.

I'd spend the rest of my life volunteering at different places, homeless shelters, animal shelters, hospitals etc.

Would be a dream.

lairyfights9 · 04/09/2024 19:25

😂 I'm actually from a very impoverished background and by a mixture of luck and hard work I'm now very comfortable, I hide it quite well. Not heliport rich though, yet!

Alongthepineconetrail · 04/09/2024 19:27

I'd pay for a teaching assistant in each class at both my kids schools.

I'd buy the school a minibus each and donate an amount for a school family hardship fund.

I would pay the salary for a dedicated fundraiser to apply for grants and set up sustainable income streams for the school.

I'd also pay for a few curriculum administrators to complete teachers admin so that teachers can get on with actually teaching

Georgethecat1 · 04/09/2024 19:28

If it was a large crazy amount I would give a lot away. I always think just 250k to a lot of people would make their life so much easier. So I think about hiring lawyer and having NDAs signed / giving people money.

I would buy a bigger house but ask kit it out so it’s eco friendly. Not a mansion but enough room to have an office and a little gym with a private driveway / not be able see my neighbours. Oh and a Volvo xc60.

I would quit my job and enjoy growing veg / volunteering / running a baby class etc.

Deipara · 04/09/2024 19:28
