To think I don’t have too many jeans?

My partner and I are moving to a slightly bigger house but we want to not bring across what we don’t need.

I have a shelf of around 28 pairs of trousers, mostly jeans and a couple of trousers for the office. He said I should cut down by half as some I’ve never worn. I really don’t think what I have is excessive. Aibu?

If you’ve got lots of pairs of jeans you’ve never worn, then yes, it’s excessive.

I probably have a similar number - like a PP I also have a range of sizes as my weight fluctuates. I wear about 10 of them on a regular basis but others are for specific occasions (eg smarter jeans) or for different times of the year (eg work with boots but not with trainers). If I find a style I like, I may also buy multiple colours too. I wouldn't keep lots that I haven't worn though as they just take up space.

I've got at least 20 pairs, I like jeans because you can get them in so many styles and colours, most of mine don't look remotely similar so I don't think it's excessive!

It's not possible to have too many pairs of jeans.

If you have the space to store and access with ease and if they all fit perfectly and you like them, and are in very good condition, just keep them. Jeans shapes change with fashion and an older pair will be in fashion before you know it. Also some jeans shapes are always a classic.
I have a ridiculous number of jeans plus other types of trousers. Some quite old.
I always follow the rules above.

I have at least that many pairs of jeans and trousers. If you have space for them, like then and they all fit, why would you get rid of any?

I have one pair of jeans and very rarely wear them. I do have a lot of pairs of leggings though. Probably 6 daytime pairs and about 10 pairs of gym leggings. No smart trousers at all!

It’s a lot but that wouldn’t matter if you wore them all.
Get rid of anything you have not worn in the last 2 years at least. If you’ve never worn them, will you ever?? Get rid.

I own 3 pairs that fit me and a few that previously fit but are now too big or small - I just keep them in case I lose/ gain weight as they are in perfectly good condition.

So to me, 28 pairs of jeans sounds very excessive!

But if they all fit you and you like them, just keep them. Jeans are very hard wearing, pretty much always in style, and you won't need to buy any more for decades.

Throwing them away only to buy more would be very wasteful.

That's loads. I have three jeans two leggins and 3 pairs of shorts.

1 tracksuit bottoms

And dh says I have a lot he has-

2 pairs jeans

2 tracksuits bottom

I have 8 outfits.
2 sets of PJ's.

How do you guys know how many pairs of everything you have? Did you just go and count in response to this thread? Do you keep a spreadsheet?

I’ve got loads of trousers but not that many pairs of jeans as I just don’t really like them. So I have 4 pairs of jeans but they’re all very different styles.

I do have way too many gym leggings but I do go 6 times a week and you can only get one wear out each time whereas jeans get at least 3 wears.

If you've barely wear some of them, there's not much use keeping them to be honest. I mean jeans don't get as dirty or need as much washing to other things. Even my teenage daughter who is obsessed with clothes has around 6-7 pairs of jeans - not 28!

That really doesn’t seem like it would see your through typical activities throughout the year.

I’ve got about 20 pairs at least. Some for summer, some for winter. I rotate them.

I’ve got about ten pairs in regular use, various styles and colours.
Dark indigo for smarter wear, stonewashed for casual wear, some cropped flares, and black skinnies.
My friend had an interesting perspective: if you wear jeans most days then have about have three pairs that are the best fit/brand you can afford.

I thought I had loads, but I've just counted and I have 18 pairs. But I have a wide variety. I don't see the point in loads of really similar pairs. Equally no point keeping what you don't wear.

How is one pair of jeans excessive? 🙈😂

4 pairs, 2 identical ones for Autumn/Spring and 2 identical ones for winter. Summer is 2 identical mini-skirts around here.

”Need” in relation to clothes is subjective, so you should take what you want to your new place assuming you’ve got space.
