To think all companies in the UK who take your money - should have a real phone number?

I use the PayByPhone app to park in my area.

All the car parks in town are now covered by this app.

The 4G in the area is so bad that you can pay online but it just gives you a spinning wheel and then a few minutes later you may, or may not, get an email confirmation.

So if the transaction fails you may not know until it's too late.

There is only the usual crappy smiling bot access - I can't find an email or a phone number. It strikes me that if a company is representing the local council, takes your money but is based on unstable connections, and capable of pretty aggressive fines - there should be a real contact potential - but there isn't.

This seems to be the way if so many companies.

Of course I could just use the machine and pay cash but the machines are often not working and also the app is useful as you can extend your booking. But it's very uncertain because of the weak access to the internet.

PayByPhone is the worst of the parking apps. I agree, there should be a real human available to deal with an issue, especially if a potential result of the payment going wrong is a fine.

I totally agree with you OP, it's not acceptable that these companies can be uncontactable after taking your money.

Totally agree. I was swearing at Paybyphone this morning as only had 3G and then the fucking thing insisted I verify my email address as well before I could pay.

Thank you for this! I tried to contact them via twitter/X but they keep freezing my account - I never post anything there and I hardly ever use my account but glad to hear I'm not alone!
