Why does this sentence give me the rage?

I just want to type - No you are the only person in the history of forever to ever have this experience’

What sentence gives you the rage?

Oh, forgot one.

you don’t have a MIL problem you have a DH problem.

pastapestoparmesan · 01/09/2024 06:48

Does anyone know… yes every single person who can work Google knows, or could find out
Is there a cold/bug going round… yes hundreds of them ALL the time
This happened to my kid at school today/ but it’s the holidays… clearly not for this person
My kid’s teacher put in place a ridiculous rule… almost certainly came from SLT and the teacher also thinks it’s ridiculous

saraclara · 01/09/2024 06:51

'but that's just me'

(Because I'm clearly a better person than you)

I want a baby name that's a bit unique.

Name x is more unique than name y.

Ffs unique is an absolute term. Something is either unique or it's fucking not!

Rather like a list of priorities! No, a priority is a the most important thing. Anything following is just urgent.

Moonshine5 · 01/09/2024 07:00

When people say they have symptoms of what might be a serious medical episode and instead of calling qualified medical professionals, they post on MN.

Moonshine5 · 01/09/2024 07:01

When a person starts a new thread when they didn't get the answer they wanted.

ilovesooty · 01/09/2024 07:03

Greytulips · 31/08/2024 22:02

Loving all the explanations ladies, I know what it means!!

It’s cringe worthy.

I hate "can anyone relate?" more. Also "are you me?" and "I've found my people".

ilovesooty · 01/09/2024 07:08

squashyhat · 01/09/2024 01:40

'I'm not being funny but...' No. No you certainly are not.

And "gently" and "kindly" when the response is anything but.

OneForTheRoadThen · 01/09/2024 07:11

'Needs fed' as in 'the baby needs fed' or 'needs gone'. It irrationally angers me.

YesYesAllGood · 01/09/2024 07:17

"Just that really." In the OP when the question is in the thread tittle. Comes up quite a lot of MN and irrationally annoys me! 😆

The OP begging posters to "Please be kind!" As if unpleasant posters are going to be kind instead just because they've been asked to.

Crazycatlady79 · 31/08/2024 22:07

I experience rage when anyone uses "the rage" within a sentence.

I experience rage when someone expresses their disapproval of something that someone has expressed their disapproval for.

Let's keep this going :)

FanofLeaves · 01/09/2024 07:21

I’m thinking of booking a city break to Madrid, has anyone ever been?

What sentence gives you the rage?

No - it's a way of asking for your advice based on what happened to you a lot of the time. Why would you get triggered by that? It's pretty what Mumsnet is all about.

delilabell · 01/09/2024 07:27

"Sorry not sorry"
And
"No offence but " if you're having to say you're not being offensive then you are being"
And "polite notice" always a rude notice

Gawjus · 01/09/2024 07:27

What gives me the rage, quite irrationally, is when posters write that they are buying a "doer upper: or saying "my house needs doing up", or we are currently "doing up" our house. There are perfectly adequate words in the English language for this specific thing; renovate, for example. "We are renovating our house", "we're buying a house that needs renovation", etc.

The other one that I find very irritating is when people say "I'm renting my house" when what they mean is "I'm letting my house". They literally mean the opposite so it gets very confusing.

I just remembered another one that gives me the rage: it's when people say I'm "upping" my exercise, or I'm "upping" the price. The word is "increase", why not use it?

VictoriaEra · 01/09/2024 07:48

TheClawDecides · 31/08/2024 22:50

And "I turned round and said" 😣😁

Gosh yes! All that turning round stuff is ridiculous.

PuppyMonkey · 01/09/2024 07:56

“What am I missing?”

That’s the one that grates on me at the moment. Said after any scenario, from why someone doesn’t like Oasis to how to use a self service checkout properly. Confused

pictoosh · 01/09/2024 08:57

I'm not fan of policing other people's use of language but admittedly this one often causes me a shudder of sheer dislike.
It's usually served up pickled in sanctimony.

Eta: I'm referring to "but that's just me". Failed to quote.

Uriahsnose · 01/09/2024 09:03

TheClawDecides · 31/08/2024 22:11

When someone explains something piss simple, and they follow it up with "Does that make sense?"

Yes it does, because I'm not 2 years old with the IQ of a Smartie 😡

I write/say this sometimes, not because I think everyone reading/listening is thick, but in case I've worded it clumsily or not explained very well. I'm a tutor, always mindful that not everyone understands things in the same way as the next person.

Mozzarellaballs · 01/09/2024 09:09

I also don't like and I don't know why but when people post on here, "let's call this person A", "we'll call this person B" I understand the meaning behind why they would do it but it's the collective we and let's.

You sound like hardwork is another one on here and then also there is a girl at work-let's not even get into her but everytime she says something for example like "my bf is so selfish" she always over exagerates and over expresses her face and says "d'ya know what I mean??"

Sethera · 01/09/2024 09:12

It does make me laugh when you see posts like "Has anyone ever been to Ibiza?" Obviously it's just a quick way of attracting relevant people to the thread but a childish part of me is sometimes tempted to reply "no, it's still completely uncharted territory".

Yes, or ‘Has anyone ever taken their toddler on a city break?’ And you’re mildly tempted to reply ‘No, that’s way too crazy an idea. No one’s ever done it, obv.’

Crickets7 · 01/09/2024 09:17

Has anyone done a city break with children?
🥱🥱🙄
See also, starting sentences with so & 'just that really' after the title on here.

Crickets7 · 01/09/2024 09:19

I don't care enough for it to 'give me the rage' tho

Greytulips · 01/09/2024 10:44

I saw an advert for a car yesterday, nice condition £7K fairly new etc and the poster put

‘Suitable for a dog car’ Mmmm I need a car for the dog, all that extra tax and insurance.

Adverts for plain white wardrobes ‘Suitable for a boy’

Also dislike ‘needs gone’ ‘get rid’ ‘get gone’
