... to ask if you have ever watched porn?

AskTrivialQuestion · 31/08/2024 18:47

NC for this trivial question that came up as part of a discussion with friends. I've NEVER watched porn, and I was the only person in the discussion (all female friends) that had never done so.

YABU: I've watched porn. I expect most women have at some point
YANBU: I've never watched porn either. You are not unusual

I said on another recent post about porn but I'll say it again; can you imagine women doing to men what the films show? Women forcing dildos down mens throats until they gag? Up their bums? Imagine that was all over the front pages of these sites and men would be going ape.

a) Most porn doesn't show those things at all.
b) There is absolutely porn where women do those things to men. There is also porn where women do those things to each other.

The term 'porn' covers so, so many different types of activity and material that it's meaningless to generalise about it. It's about as meaningless to say 'porn is about women being force-fed dildos' as it is to say 'restaurants are about eating pate made from the livers of force-fed geese'.

It is understandable that someone who is uncomfortable with the very existence of porn doesn't watch it and therefore doesn't really know anything about it. But it also means those people aren't best-placed to present a meaningful argument because they simply don't have the direct experience of it necessary to know what the term 'porn' actually encompasses.

God I hate that phrase, so condescending. You’re not cooler cos you saw dirtier things than another woman did.

Not 'cooler', no. But certainly better placed to present an informed argument than people who don't know anything about porn.

Also why do you think it's 'dirtier' for it to be the man who has the dildo in their mouth?

Well, what you do is you research it as you've researched other porn. So click one of the links for ethical stuff and read up on the companies.

Right. And obviously people are going to do that.

31 and yes I have looked before, but not for a long time and not regularly. Was just interested at a younger age to see what it was all about.

pimplebum · 27/03/2025 12:44

Of course !
love it

Iwannakeepondancing · 27/03/2025 12:45

Yes I have and enjoy it. 38 female

Right. And obviously people are going to do that.

I'm talking about you not people. You said it was hard to find ethical porn, I corrected you and said it isn't. Just Google ethical porn.

Gloriia · 27/03/2025 12:54

Thisissuss · 27/03/2025 10:38

Oh everything "exists" but it isn't on the front page of porn sites, showing the gender bias and why we have an issue with misogyny. Men and women constantly shown men physically dominating, not ever being dominated, unless specifically searched for.

And I actually have tried to find men gagging, deepthroat (to prove my point) and it doesn't exist on popular sites like X Hamster or Porn Hub.

Bdsm/female domme stuff is a very popular genre on all adult sites. Widely available.

On specialist sites. Not on popular ones. You can find women doing this in so called "mainstream" sites as mentioned previously and it isn't labelled BDSM.

Femme domme/bdsm stuff will be available on all the mainstream adult sites.

Mumsnet is not going to let me share a screenshot, clearly. But a search for 'woman makes man suck dildo' immediately brings up a videos entitled 'Pegging his face' (not going to type out the full title because it's way too explicit) and 'Lady [Name] deep f*cks slave boy throat with long strap-on' and 'Slutboy gets deepthroat training'. I'm not going to look any further down the list of search results because frankly, I don't want to see it - I don't want to watch that being done to a man any more than I want to watch it being done to a woman. I hate anything like that.

I'm not for one second saying that I think women are not more likely to exploited by porn than men are - of course they are. They're also more likely to be exploited in the garment industry, domestic work and numerous other industries. My point is simply that 'porn' encompasses such a vast range of material made by such a vast range of people in such a vast range of ways that it's impossible to make the generalisation that all porn is one thing or another.

So why is it hidden in subsections and not popping up if you type in deep throat? Why is it all men dominating women on the front page?

PermanentTemporary · 27/03/2025 13:07

Yes. I aim to stick to written stuff as I think it's ethically better. But I don't always. It has to be said that the vast majority of visual porn is so unerotic, at least to me. And the last time I looked, I caught a glimpse of an AI clip involving a child and closed everything down, haven't been back. Anyone who thinks that won't be more prevalent in the future is naive.

The most erotic things I have seen on film are the Hysterical Literature clips on YouTube - supposed to be art but they arent. I wish there was an equivalent with men.

@StrawberryDream24there are a few individuals who make a lot of money. Not sure how that makes the industry OK?

Your reading comprehension skills aren't the best, are they?

You need to type in what you want like any site.

Gloriia · 27/03/2025 13:32

I think it is fine to either choose to watch adult content or choose not to but some of these view that everyone is raped or trafficked are clearly not remotely accurate.

We aren't talking about dark web illegal stuff.

Adult content has been around forever it isn't a new social media thing. Yes, more readily available now and so it is up to parents to monitor their kids tech usage and have conversations with them.

CeaselesslyIntoThePast · 27/03/2025 13:33

I would say almost everyone has unless you go out of your way to avoid it. Some people would have you believe anything to do with sex is sordid and unethical.

crackofdoom · 27/03/2025 14:01

Yes, I used to have a subscription to an ethical site run by a female director (are we not naming them today? 🤔). It was great- people of all genders, colours, shapes and sizes enjoying each other in all manner of ways. There was a lot of laughter, there were plots (some of them decidedly tongue- in- cheek ironic). Ultimately though, I couldn't afford to keep the subscription up when I would only watch once or twice a month- and as the director pointed out, why should porn be free?

In contrast, I have watched a little mainstream porn that a lover showed me, and I found it incredibly dull, unimaginative and formulaic, involving a cosmetically enhanced woman being banged in exactly the same way by a succession of men. Nope nope nope.

I'd love you to find me a man deep throating on X Hamster or Porn Hub. Try. It doesn't exist. All women come up.

It really does. You just have to search under the gay rather the straight category.

There was nothing like what you're describing on the front page when I went on PornHub to have a look just now. The top two videos were amateur women filming themselves having a wank, then a couple of group sex scenarios which didn't appear to be anything violent, then a cuckold type set-up with woman having a shag while her husband watched.

I suspect the front page videos probably change constantly according to what other people are watching in your area, or are in line with your own searches or cookies that are enabled on your device. So perhaps either you've spent too much time researching this, or you live in the vicinity of some fairly grim people. I don't know.

Regardless, your original statement was 'If anyone made porn where men were choking on dildos there would be an outrage'. It was then pointed out to you that there is plenty of porn like that available. You've now changed your argument to 'Well, there wasn't any on the front page of one website I accessed on my device today' which is a completely different assertion to the one you made before.

Again - I'm not saying that women don't get mistreated in porn more often than men. They do - but they also great mistreated in more often than men in pretty much every other area of life.
