NC for this trivial question that came up as part of a discussion with friends. I've NEVER watched porn, and I was the only person in the discussion (all female friends) that had never done so.

To give some background. I grew up in a conservative/traditional farming family. As a result it is something I felt was "wrong" (for me personally).

I'd expect that most people (both male and female) will have looked at it out of curiosity and exploring during teenage years? I know I did.

As I grew older, and had more world/life experience, I'm increasingly concerned about the negative impact it can have on young girls. Anything I've read about the industry is appalling.

I certainly have and following a recommendation on here my favourites are bellesa house which are female gaze with a strong emotional,connection ans damien and diana soft on pornhub. This is a newish thing for me in my 50s

I think that people will naturally seek out information about sex while growing up. That was certainly the case when I was growing up, when there was minimal information in schools, and very little from my wonderful DM either apart from the technicaI details (cringe!).

I remember reading the Nancy Friday book growing up, and thinking "wow". I did watch it to learn, and then more. But as @deadflowers stated I think things in not in a good place right now. I'd assume there is "good" porn ?? But most of it ... yuck ...

I feel pretty strongly about it, i just don't think I feel it can be ethical because I've no real way of knowing the performers are not being exploited. Exploitation of many involved is rife and the viewer may end up with serious mental health issues. Tragically, children can easily access porn when their brains are still forming.

I can think of a couple of female-run porn companies which are shot more like cinema/experimental film. No horrible lighting or exploitative nonsense. You have to pay for them and they work with the same few actors!

I’ve watched it but wouldn’t recommend it. I think you’re lucky / have made really great choices to have successfully avoided it so far.

I’ve seen it (thanks to a partner who enjoyed it) but don’t find it a turn-on at all - quite the opposite. Not because I’m a prude but because I just don’t want to watch people who are desperate enough to be paid to have sex with people they probably don’t even know, who are pretending to enjoy it. Perhaps I’d be tempted if I hadn’t had a partner for years, but as I do I’d far rather the real thing, any day.
