Flip flops that DON’T make the sole of your feet black

WHICHFLIPFLOPS · 31/08/2024 14:35

Posting for traffic!

I love flip flops especially Havaianas. I love my Havaianas platforms but the way they make the sole of my feet BLACK is really off putting. I’ve tried Birkenstock’s but I don’t like them as they’re too chunky for me.

What flip flops do people wear that doesn’t give them black feet? Any links are much appreciated😆

I can't recommend a particular brand but I have noticed a strange thing. Since I've started looking after my feet and the skin is soft and smooth, they don't get dirty in flip flops any more. No idea why this should be, but it's true! (I'm not implying you don't look after your feet, btw 🙂.)

I wear Crocs (I have a pair of Sexi Flips which are really comfy which I've had maybe 3 years but I think they are discontinued, and also a pair of Miami's which are still on the website).
I also gave a pair of Oka-B Carson's which I got on Amazon. None of them gave me black feet even in the wet.

eurochick · 31/08/2024 15:16

I've never got black feet from any flip flops. What causes it?

longdistanceclaraclara · 31/08/2024 15:30

I don't get black feet with my havianas unless I've been walking in the fields.

WonderingWanda · 31/08/2024 15:34

It's the dirt getting on your feet making your feet dirty, not the flip flops. If I wear them around the house or in my garden my feet at fine. If I go to the beach or walk across a dusty car park they get dirty.

Parkmybentley · 31/08/2024 15:36

Primark £1 jobbies here and never got black feet...!!

FOJN · 31/08/2024 15:38

Whenever you wear any type of open footwear you run the risk of dirt and dust getting under your feet and making them dirty.

I wear crocs flip flops because they are very comfortable but I wash them regularly to make sure that any dirt in the foot bed doesn't repeatedly make my feet dirty. Unless I've been in a particularly dusty environment I don't notice my feet getting terribly dirty.

MummytoAAandX · 31/08/2024 15:50

I love my FitFlops. They are so comfy and I never notice my feet being black at the end of the day

purplemunkey · 31/08/2024 15:56

Can’t say I’ve ever experienced this myself. I’ve always found Havianas overrated though. They’re the only flip flops that have ever fallen apart for me. I have Reef stargazers as I love a bit of sparkle.

@parkmybentley I really wouldn't want to put jobbies on my feet

partiallydeflatedbutoptimistic · 31/08/2024 16:01

Wash your flip flops, Is that too obvious ?

What about some sort of spray to protect from scratches etc on the part where your foot goes. Might be worth the a try

Hunglikeapolevaulter · 31/08/2024 16:02

I've never had black feet from any flip flops.

ScrambledSmegs · 31/08/2024 16:07

I have some Archie's slides and some not-Havaiana knock-offs that I got from a beach shop on holiday, neither make my feet black. What on earth are you doing in them? Enquiring minds wanna know…

RuthW · 31/08/2024 16:11

I've never had black feet with flipflops.

BustingBaoBun · 31/08/2024 16:28

I wear flip flops all the time and have never got black feet.

Havianas and £3 from a supermarket ones. No difference

stripeymonster · 31/08/2024 17:37

Agree - it's where you walk in them , not the shoes themselves.

Q124 · 31/08/2024 17:59

I wear loads of flip flops and have never bad black feet. Where are you walking in yours?

Dotto · 31/08/2024 18:16

It's sweat mixed with dust and dirt. However I've found Gumbies to be good.

Radiatorvalves · 31/08/2024 18:19

Reef or Archie’s. V comfortable and no issues with discolouration 😁

sixtiesbaby88 · 31/08/2024 18:20

It's pollution and dirt, not the flip flops! When we lived in London I'd get home from work and my feet would be black with grime when I took my sandals off. Now we live in a town my feet don't get dirty. Ditto nose blowing!

MrsToothyBitch · 31/08/2024 18:32

No issues with mucky feet from flip flops- mine are all havianas here- except for the pair I wear to potter in the garden if we occasionally get a bit soily from gardening. Then I wipe them down. And I would say my feet are pretty shabby. Same with sandals.

Donutsforbreakfast · 31/08/2024 18:37

Archies are the best flip flops ever made! They are pricey but worth every penny for comfort. No black feet and they don't rub at all

Maybe you’re right. I live in SW London and spend all day walking around. As soon as I’d come home, my feet would be black as if I’ve walked around barefoot.

As soon as I switched to Birkenstocks, this never happened. Maybe because the style is slightly different and standard flip flops expose your feet more, I’m not sure. Thank you to everyone who actually gave recommendations instead of just commenting, ‘mY fEeT NevER GeT BlACk.’ I’m off to have a look now

I swear by fitflops, been using them for over 3 years. They are comfortable and I have no issues with dirty feet.
