Aptamil tabs

We are currently on holiday and I have brought two boxes of the aptamil tabs with us for baby instead of his regular powdered milk as it would travel easier.

The thing is my mother in law thinks they are basically poison and making me feel like the worst mother in the world.

The ingredients are basically the same and my baby is guzzling it down same as the regular powder version!

Has anyone else used them and are they gasp "poison" ?

The reason I posted on aibu, is mil being unreasonable for sayingthey are poison or am I being unreasonable for feeding him it

Why does she think they are poisen?! They're just formula...

I don't know, she's very old fashioned. She even hates those little boxes that you can store pre-scooped milk in for next feed.

She also has some problem with prep machines, uv sterilisers and wants me to wash all babies clothes by hand🤣

MIL is batshit, you're not being unreasonable

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 29/08/2024 13:41

Your DH needs to shut her up

SilenceInside · 29/08/2024 13:46

She's being irrational and I would tell her so. Your DH needs to have a word with her and tell her clearly that these sachets are the exact same powder as in a box, and to back off about this. And all the other stuff!

Dreamcatchergirl · 29/08/2024 13:47

It’s formula but in a convenient tablet form. Ideal for travel.

Enjoy your holiday and stop worrying about MIL’s comments. I’d be speaking to DH to tell her to keep her comments to herself.

She's usually lovely in every other aspect but it seems when it comes to child rearing she wants everything to be done the hard way. DH has told her off multiple times and she stays quiet until he's gone and just starts again. It's exhausting. Thanks for replying about the tabs, they're so handy and I've noticed the milk doesn't foam up as much with them. Great invention in my opinion.

I didn't even know they did tablets! What an amazing idea!
I think it's a prerequisite for MILs to compare things to how 'hard they had it'
They never move with the times.

We used the aptimel tabs for a week when we were on holiday about 3 months ago and can confirm our baby is still well so definitely not poison 😉

Honestly I would use them all the time if they weren’t so expensive!
