High jacking for traffic really but AIBU to ask you for wedding ceremony music suggestions? I want to hear some quirky ideas. Need suggestions for walking in, signing books, and walking out. Most of the songs that we live and have meaning aren't really wedding appropriate so I'm struggling a bit.

Really not wedding appropriate? I'd pick a song you like for the signing and walking out if you really love them, and something more wedding-y for walking in. What sort of thing do you like?

If you're on tiktok look for jadeleighsinger, in particular I love her 8th video but she has so many videos for this type of thing.

Going in we had "Dance me to the end of love" Leonard Cohen, and then "Have I told you lately that I love you" Van Morrison.

There is a lovely acoustic version of “I would walk 500 miles” - or you could go for the original! The lyrics are actually really beautiful.

If there is a song you like but the lyrics aren’t appropriate, could you try and find an instrumental version?

Google will show lists of wedding music

Pick what you like and means something to you, not what’s typical “wedding music”. Are you having a musician? I found that helped as our pianist gave us a list of songs he played and I saw my aisle song on there and couldn’t believe I’d never thought of it before, it was perfect! Seeing songs written down helps massively as it gives you ideas and brings them in one place. Then for our evening band, again they sent over music to choose from for a set list and first dance which helped - in the end they learned our first dance for us as it wasn’t on their list.

What are the songs you like that you don’t feel are wedding appropriate? This may be able to shape some responses. Eg same genre but more appropriate lyrics.

For walking out something like Signed Sealed Delivered by Stevie Wonder, This Will Be by Natalie Cole, are popular.

This is what I had. Other than the 1st song, the other 2 had significant meaning when we were dating. I had a harpist play.

Walking in- Canon in D
Signing- 1000 miles by Vanessa Carlton (but acoustic)
Walking Out- I do, I do, I do by Abba

My sister and now ex bil came down the aisle to the Wallace and Gromit theme.

I'm having the same crisis at the moment too (my idea of romantic is Snoop Dogg! 🙈) We've agreed that I'll walk down the aisle to Jax Jones featuring Ella Henderson - This is Real but the acoustic version but then we are kinda stumped for the other 2 songs, I need to submit them in the next couple of weeks as we get married in November!

ratherbesurfing · 29/08/2024 22:48

What do you like?

Boxofstars · 29/08/2024 23:00

If I ever get married again it will be a town hall wedding.

I love three quarter blues by George Gershwin so that would be played on a piano.
