Born 1962 now aged 62 and led many years thinking that the Answer was 42. If you're currently 62 born in 1962 then you might have an idea about what I'm posting about.

AND THEN!! da ta di tah I realized on the back of another thread concerning the education of our PM that he too is aged 62 born in 1962. And, concerning his education, not only did the PM pass his 11+ and be one of the 90 boys in a very large catchment area to get in to Reigate Grammar School he stayed through the very tumultuous disintegration of the Grammar Schools which turned Reigate Grammar into a fee-paying Independent School.

I have never crossed paths with Keir although I'm a 62 and who was educated at the Reigate County School for Girls, the other 'grammar school' wiped out of being at the same time.

Just to clarify, Keir wasn't privately educated. 1962 a great vintage.

@TeaGinandFags So possibly Keir was predicted by Deep Thought.

Deep Thought is the most powerful computer ever built designed by hyper-intelligent pan-dimensional beings, who wanted to know the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything ............

................... this is Keir's mission?

eeeek! Not sure he's actually fulfilling his purpose in life ............ 😬

Were you a Christmas/NY baby @Zoflorabore ? The number one at that time of year is usually something catastrophically crap and my pub quiz knowledge includes knowing that particular dirge was a Christmas no1. I was born 2yrs later on NYE 1980 and it was Theres No-one Quite Like Bloody Grandma by the St Winifred's School Choir.

(It's 42 btw op. Love to Sharon)

Jan 18th. It was number one for a few weeks I think ( god knows why!! ) and I have always hated the song despite loving Paul McC and being from Liverpool 🤣

I just googled born in 1962 62 age and it came up with a Beddian Birthday. It's when you're the age of the year you were born.
Apparently something to be celebrated. I've got a while to get to 79.

Anyone born in the 90s or the early 00s won't really experience that then.

Treelichen · 29/08/2024 00:57

Too much sherry?

How so? People born in 90s could get to 90, and then the 00s it resets so if you were born in 2001 and turn 1 then it's happened to you. And so on.

NoNoNoNotMe · 29/08/2024 02:33

I was born in almost the same year as Douglas Adams. We both started as students in Cambridge in 1971 and I am now 71.

This clearly means I can make an authoritative statement - the answer is 42.

TickingAlongNicely · 29/08/2024 05:03

I'm only 39 but understood the OP... does that make ne old before my time?

Goldengirl123 · 29/08/2024 08:34

What on earth are you talking about????

TerryWogansWig · 29/08/2024 08:37

Sir Keir's just zis guy, y'know?

I suppose I'm thinking that most of us won't live to our 90s and you're not conscious of your birthday until about 5. Was just musing aloud last night.

Anna Wing (Eastenders) is Mark Wing Davey's mum.

hels71 · 29/08/2024 09:03

Sorry, it's definitely 42.!! Even my 16 year old agrees, so it must be true!

Meadowwild · 29/08/2024 09:05

@TheHateIsNotGood So what was the question? Wink

OrwellianTimes · 29/08/2024 09:06

I was born in 1978 ( number one was the most depressing fucking song in the world-
Mull of Kintyre by Paul McCartney and The Wings ) just thought I would add that random info cos I’ve just read your op and I am baffled and I won’t get those few
minutes back so I hope you read mine op.

or- please enlighten us.

The meaning of life from Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy
I'll take Mull of kintyre over I love you love me by Garry Glitter which was number 1 the day I was born..

StiggyZardust · 29/08/2024 09:12

The answer is definitely 42 and I went to both of those schools.

commonground · 29/08/2024 09:14

As an aside, we used to have telephone cleaners come to our office and clean the phones (sometimes when we we were talking on them 😛). Then they phased them out and at first I was like, great, because that was kind of a pointless task...

...and then I was like...wait a minute! That is actually very bad indeed. And I've been worrying about it ever since.

The kids that sang it got a 50 pence book voucher for their troubles
I was watching Sally ( can't remember her second name) who played Shelley unwin on corrie on a talk show and she was in the choir, she says she has no idea what happened to the profits but the kids certainly didn't benefit from it .

listsandbudgets · 29/08/2024 09:26

It's 42.. unless we are about to suffer rampant inflation?

Have you remembered your towel OP I think we are in for a bumpy ride

F*ck KS I'm going going to down a pan galactic gargle blaster and go to Milliways

DPotter · 29/08/2024 09:30

Don't panic !

rkahic · 29/08/2024 09:31

We all know the answer is 42, the issue has always been, what’s the question?

TeaCupSallie · 29/08/2024 09:35

I was listening to the extra material on the box set CDs and an interviewer asked Douglas about the significance of 42 and he said it was the silliest number he could think of.

But the question is in a Bob Dylan song:how many roads must a man walk down?

GalacticalFarce · 29/08/2024 09:36

I was so pleased to have been to Norway recently and admired the fjords, thinking of Slartibartfast. I genuinely did. Lol.

Crayfishforyou · 29/08/2024 09:38

If the answer is 62, then what is the question?

ClockwiseHoneysuckle · 29/08/2024 09:39

How is this going to work next year, when you're 63?
