To wonder why parents dress their children in designer gear

Posting this in the knowledge that it's none of my business how other mums dress their kids, but I'm genuinely really curious because it's such an unrelatable position for me.

There's a lass at my DD's school who is dressed solely in designer gear - we're talking Gucci, Valentino, Yeezy trainers etc. Her mum is the same - head to toe labels.

When they go on holiday, she posts pics of the kid at famous restaurants (with LV wallet prominently featured), next to designer boutiques - we even had one of the kid perched on a Fendi golf cart.

How do you get a kid to care about designer labels? And what drives a desire to dress solely in super expensive clothes? It doesn't seem like a healthy value system, so I'm curious if anyone can explain it.

@Kitkat1523 - why would I make that up?!

What gets me is that so much of it is just really dull!

Putting a black T-shirt on your toddler that has "The North Face" written on one side - why not just buy a plain black one for half the price if you're going to choose such a boring top for your kid?! At least spend money on something interesting!

It depends on what they are buying. My DD spent out on water/wind proof clothes because they went walking and were out and about a lot. She'd pick up stuff in Cheshire Oaks and online sales.
It depends on what you call designer. If you've got children in the family to pass stuff onto then buying the trainers/tracksuits in some brands make sense.

I'm talking literally a cotton t shirt you would wear to the park with a pair of shorts. Fair enough on proper coats or wet weather gear but a bog standard, boring old black t-shirt for every day? Waste of money.
