Job application forms

AIBU or are many job application forms absolutely ridiculous these days? I am currently looking for a new job, I’ve been in my current role for 8+ years and a lot seems to have changed since then. I am applying for general admin roles (which is what I have done for my whole adult life, in some very difficult environments) but few seem to accept a CV and instead want you to fill out lengthy forms and write absolute novels for each question. It’s taking hours to do each application because it needs to tailored to their role profile/advertisement. I know I am being unreasonable but Christ on a bike, some of it just feels like nonsense, such as “demonstrate how you have integrity in 2000 words or less”. IT’S KILLING MY SOUL 😫.

Off I go now, back to talk absolute shite about how much integrity I have in order to have the chance to maybe fill out some spreadsheets everyday 🫠.

Not unreasonable at all, market is vile too which makes these forms even worse !

I feel your pain, I’m trying to go back to work after maternity leave and the forms/questions are crazy! I spent 4 hours in numerous interviews for one part time admin job only to be told by message on Indeed ‘we have gone in a different direction’ Good luck in your job search op! 🍀

I was asked to do an AI video interview last week before they'd even look at my CV. No option to even blur the background like teams. An hour long. Not a chance. Horribly intrusive.

Mid senior management in ps.

You are not unreasonable at all!!! I don't know what's happened to recruitment or why they've all decided on these mind & bum numbingly stupid questions. They are weird and add nothing to the application. Perhaps they are there to test 'resilience' of the applicant, who can stay the longest and answer all these daft questions or self eliminate to help cut down numbers.
