Would you move?

We are in a position to move house next year.

Our children are in Yr3 and Nursery, we live in quite a run down city. Hopefully without offending anyone, Bradford (I've lived here my whole life).

AIBU to pull the kids out of school to move somewhere else in Yorkshire?
We've been debating if to wait until the eldest is leaving school.

Any opinions appreciated.

I'd move sooner rather than later with DC of that age if you want to. There is no real advantage in waiting til eldest is out of school.

Yeo move sooner rather than later so oldest is settled in a new school with new friends for a few years before moving to secondary.

I would move now before they get too settled into school/friends etc. easier to move while they are still young x

Definitely recommend doing it while they are as young as they are the whole transition will be much easier. Leave it till they leave school your going to be living in an area your not happy with for years and the children will be leaving friends behind

We moved when dd was going into reception and ds into year 2. Dd settled immediately whilst ds took longer, but is settled a couple years later.
You wouldn’t need to move far either - lots of lovely villages right in your doorstep. (You’re from my neck of the woods).

We moved, albeit only down the road, when ds was in year 5 and dd in year 1. (The eldest was in secondary and we moved closer to that) It was still drive able to the primary school so we kept the younger two in for year 6 and 2 and then moved DD for year 3 onwards. It was absolutely fine (and COVID hit the following March)

So, in short, move now if that is what you want.
