to ask what your favourite snack is

I am a prolific and unrepentant snacker. I just chopped up some peanut butter and prunes, and am eating them with thick greek yoghurt with syrup on top.

I had some cashews earlier, and sometimes if I fancy something savoury but don't have bread in I will get a paratha out the freezer, fry it, slather it in butter, cheese, and marmite, and then roll it up and eat it. I will definitely have another snack later, even though I am going out for dinner at a friend's...

So AIBU to ask what snacks you like eating ?

Lots of these sound delicious but I wouldn't consider them snacks, more a small meal, like lunch. A snack for me is something that requires zero preparation. A biscuit, some crisps, a piece of fruit. Favourite for me is a cheese straw.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 24/08/2024 07:22

A bag of peanuts if I’m out, and a Babybel and an apple if I’m home.

SisSuffragette · 24/08/2024 07:44

I like to use a slice of (quorn) ham as a mini wrap, and get inventive with the fillings like tiny chopped up cherry tomatoes and houmous, cream cheese with the inside bit of cucumber, just jalapeños.
A bowl of Jacobs Country crisp with cold milk
Radishes from the fridge and salt to dip them in

Andoutcomethewolves · 24/08/2024 08:21

Jacobs cream crackers with marmite and a little bit of cheese
As above but with crumpets 😋
Ryvitas with peanut butter, OR smoked salmon and thinly sliced cucumber

KeebabSpider · 24/08/2024 08:28

Some people have very elaborate snacks :) some of these would be a meal to me. I'm currently trying to tackle my addiction to cheese biscuits. I'll probably swap them out for something equally as pointless and unhealthy. But I've cut out sugar entirely. I'm envious of people who can eat fruit, but have so many allergies to fruit. I love apples but the last one twenty years ago nearly killed me.

Apples.
My partner moaned this evening that there was a pack of 6 in the fridge this morning, now there are 2. I was reliably informed that eating 4 apples in a day is for horses and weird people only 😂😂

Why do you keep apples in the fridge?

StellaCruella · 24/08/2024 08:48

I like gherkins wrapped in Parma ham, salt and vinegar peanuts, any chocolate.

DelilahBucket · 24/08/2024 08:50

Carrot sticks with taramasalata.
Tortilla chips (M&S ones) with any dip really, salsa while I'm calorie counring.
M&S Beef Wellington crisps with soured cream and chive dip.
Nairn's Cheese Oatcakes.
Rollitos, but generally game for any cheeses or deli meats 😁
Jolly Hog Chunkies

ScottBakula · 24/08/2024 09:24

I have said it for a long time but this thread proves it

CHEESE IS THE KING OF SNACKS.

I currently have in my fridge
brie ,
feta,
Blacksticks Blue ,
cream cheese roulade with herbs,
tub of cream cheese and extra mature pilgrims choice.
I snack on them with tescos crackers and garners pickled onions and their red onions in raspberry vinegar.

Or toast with marmite, or peanut butter or better still marmites peanut butter.

Like you @stressedout1994 I also like pathra, have you tried it with a sweet topping ? A good quality jam / conserve is very nice.

I'm not a snacker but my mate is. She'd rather graze her way through the day than eat a 'normal' meal 3 times a day. OP is this you? Can you eat normal meals - as well as all these snacks? I couldn't eat what you describe and then have dinner.

I just like them cold and crunchy

Jeez I'm glad I read to the end of your post - I was thinking YOU CAN'T EAT RAW BACON!
Sounds right up my street tbf!

Haha, I'm glad you read it to the end... I love bacon in all forms, but even I wouldn't eat it raw!

SusanSHelit · 24/08/2024 13:48

That paratha thing sounds bloody lovely op I'm stealing that!

My snacks aren't nearly as elaborate. It's usually some strong cheese, pickle and maybe some peanut butter. Occasionally this is a lunch though. It's a fine line between the two

Mydahliasareshit · 24/08/2024 13:55

Picard salt and pepper squid rings (Ocado) with vietnamese dipping sauce.
Fills so many cravings at once 😋

Somepeoplearesnippy · 24/08/2024 15:08

Boiled eggs. I always have some cold in the fridge for a snack attack. Or homemade marrowfat peas with sriacha. Or for a morning gym snack between classes humus with chopped up boiled egg and sriracha

rainbowunicorn · 24/08/2024 15:38

louderthan · 23/08/2024 20:19

Obsessed with this houmous at the moment. Has to be the jalapeño one.

Love this!

OneTC · 24/08/2024 15:51

Meat pie 🤤

PointsSouth · 24/08/2024 16:13

Cheddar and piccalilli Ryvita

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 24/08/2024 16:25

Just remembered my recent discovery of dark chocolate-covered ginger biscuits 😋 so adding those to my list!!

BobbyBiscuits · 24/08/2024 16:32

I love the paratha you get with spinach in, and one with spicy potato. But I never know how to cook them from frozen? I always try the oven but I guess that's wrong..

I guess crisps and things like bresaola, lomo, prociuto, salami, smoked salmon on decent bread. But then it turns more into a meal once the bread gets involved!

I also love hummus, tarama, babaganoush, tzatziki, all those lovely Turkish/greek/ middle eastern dips.
With carrot sticks, but then pitta, olives..and it becomes a meal again! Haha.

So I'm a bad snacker basically!

CocoapuffPuff · 24/08/2024 17:42

Rosemary crackers with a little cheese.
Ready salted crisps.
Fruit - currently obsessed with greengages but it changes with the seasons.
Plain yogurt with a little honey or jam if I'm really hungry but a meal is too far away for a cracker to do the job.

KimberleyClark · 24/08/2024 17:43

Marmite rice cakes with butter.

rentersleaf · 24/08/2024 20:03

Crisps all of the crisps

Also cured meats and cheese

onwardandupwards · 24/08/2024 20:12

Boiled egg chopped and mixed with salad cream, tomatoes dipped in salt, fridge raiders and I love dairylea dunkers!

Surprisedcupcake · 24/08/2024 20:15

I like sandwiching cheddar in between cucumber slices, or eating carrot sticks and cheese. Or buttered crackers with cheese and sometimes apple too. Or grapes and cheese. Or homemade sausage rolls. For sweet I like banana/apple with Nutella 😋 or a lump of chocolate. Or I make the world's best homemade cookies, they're so good. Or a bowl of cereal if I'm lazy. Omg I love snacking give me all the food 🤣
