and I feel heart flutters around every 8 seconds. Should I go to a&e, call 111 or just take a note and let gp know on Monday?

Is that BP odd for you?

It would be fine for me

Regards the flutters....what's your pulse and blood oxygen ?

Finnulafishface · 23/08/2024 16:37

That’s a normal BP?

Bestyearever2024 · 23/08/2024 16:37

The 'instant heart rate' app is very helpful imo

Paganpentacle · 23/08/2024 16:38

That BP is fine.
Palpitations are common.
cut out caffeine.
If your rate is rapid (over 100) AND persistent and makes you breathless go to a/e otherwise routine GP appointment.

Muffin101 · 23/08/2024 16:39

I’d say that is a pretty normal blood pressure.. is that quite adrift from your norm? As for the flutters, I don’t know. I’d be inclined to speak to my gp on Monday but I’m definitely more in the ‘wait and see’ camp with health things, for better or for worse. I expect 111 may be a better option if you’re particularly anxious or concerned.

Rachie1973 · 23/08/2024 16:39

That’s a perfectly normal BP. Palpitations are rarely dangerous.

Supermacs · 23/08/2024 16:40

Is that lower than you're used to? If it significantly lower than your normal along with the fluttering, I would get it checked. Otherwise, I wouldn't be too worried about the fluttering on its own - it could be from anaemia, anxiety etc

Dotto · 23/08/2024 16:41

Is that diastolic high for you? I'd call 111 if you're concerned at all, about the heart flutters

CraverSpud · 23/08/2024 16:42

Normal BP

Planits · 23/08/2024 16:44

That’s a normal BP. What’s your pulse? Could you be low on iron?

limpop · 24/08/2024 16:50

This was a typo and ot was 210/80

I have realised as well that ibuprofen can raise already high BP so I'm stopping taking that (I was having it every night)

blackcherryconserve · 24/08/2024 16:53

That is high. Ring 111

Didimum · 24/08/2024 16:56

You posted this yesterday. Please see your doctor.

NImumconfused · 24/08/2024 16:58

That's a slightly odd combination, in that the diastolic one is relatively normal, are you using a home monitor? They can sometimes be prone to error but I think I would ring 111 just to be sure.

When DH had a similar systolic reading he got sent to A&E, but his diastolic was very high too (about 170).

opaltimer · 24/08/2024 17:00

You need urgent medical assessment if your BP is over 200. Go straight to A&E. You will need medication to normalise your BP and ECG to determine any underlying arrhythmias. Don't delay

Merryoldgoat · 24/08/2024 17:02

210/80 would be very unusual - a high top number like that over a normal bottom number suggests a malfunctioning machine.

Try to have 15 mins of rest and take it again.

limpop · 24/08/2024 18:17

The type of hypertension I have only seems to be the top number. Isolated systolic.
Ita down to more normal.175/85 ish now.

I'll engage with my GP again on meds

OP posts:
blackcherryconserve · 24/08/2024 22:31

175 is still high so yes get to your GP asap. Are you on any BP meds?

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 24/08/2024 22:51

I’ve just been diagnosed with high blood pressure and started medication, my GP has told me if I get a reading of 180, or above, it’s straight to A&E.
