To attempt to use a She-wee?

whosafraidofthefestivaltoilet · 20/08/2024 12:31

Off to Leeds festival, for work, and have heard the toilets are unusable for women. Has anyone attempted to use a she-wee or similar?

Is this a viable alternative to sitting down to wee? I am not really a hoverer, too old and fat.

Any suggestions and tips welcome!

There are reusable and disposable ones, like these

I use one for festivals - when the alternative is queuing for 45 mins or more for a stinking portaloo, they’re a life saver! Game changer.

Get one - practice in the shower. Just need to make sure you lean forward and go up in your toes a bit when using - gravity does the rest!

trust it, hold it snug against your body, I don’t even need to pull down pants or jeans anymore.

Doggymummar · 20/08/2024 22:22

I used to oee in a cup and pour it in the bushes. Luckily I only poo I ce a week so not an issue.

Omg I woke the cat up I am shaking with laughter!!!!

(actually not namechanged for this despite the appropriate username...) Am I just peculiar(ly lucky?) or does anyone else not understand what problem these are solving? If I need to wee in an unusual place the problem I have is ensuring nobody's going to come along and see me and that's not something the shewee will help with... If I'm confident of that, I can squat and send the stream roughly where I need it to go. Is that harder for other people (perhaps I'm blessed with strong thighs and/or unconfusing labial anatomy?)? Or have shewee users just never tried not using one? Or what?

The issue is with a shit-encrusted toilet you can’t actually squat (too risky to climb up onto the seat as you risk slipping and falling in, and frankly who wants to step in actual human shit in order to squat?)

I’ve happily used squat toilets all over the world, I was at a loss at Glastonbury.

On the contrary. A Shewee or PStyle allow you to we in such a way that anyone coming around sees nothing. Except the wee itself. If you are wearing trousers you do not need to expose anything more than a man does. Less, even, because all that sticks out of your clothing is the device.

If you're wearing anything else, yes, you have to uncover yourself. But you can still keep yourself away from the filth, as there is no need to squat.

Also very useful for women who cannot squat, for whatever reason.

(And no, not all women can aim.)

You mean if the toilet was clean you’d climb onto it and squat? WTF?

You squat on a squat toilet. If you don’t want to sit on the seat a western-style toilet, you hover. You don’t climb on it and squat FFS

The way you described squatting indicates you think the person should climb on top of the toilet. Which nobody should do.

DramaAlpaca · 21/08/2024 01:04

All I'm willing to say is that they need practice.

Your reading comprehension needs work. The other poster asked why anyone would use a SheWee instead of just squatting. I replied to explain why squatting wouldn’t actually work.

I’m not sure how you get from “this is why squatting on the toilet seat wouldn’t work” to “everyone should squat on the toilet seat”

LOL, okay.

Puzzicle · 21/08/2024 02:04

I love mine. Use it at festivals no problem. Practice before you go though

AngeloMysterioso · 21/08/2024 02:10

Was also going to suggest practicing in the shower. You use different muscles when you’re standing up.

GogAndMagog · 21/08/2024 04:06

Just get a camping toilet? Line it with cheap nappies. Leave in tent.

Actually , we just used a larger kids sit down potty.

squishee · 21/08/2024 06:04

A fabric conditioner bottle with the widest, er, opening you can find. Stays upright in your backpack. Optional cat litter inside to stop the contents from sloshing.

steadywinner · 21/08/2024 08:09

Surely you have to get your trousers half down to have a hope of getting the she wee into position, judging by some of these comments? In which case just as easy to squat behind a bush.

PaulaTrilloe · 21/08/2024 08:09

Wahine24 · 20/08/2024 13:17

There a definite skill to using one, one I've not mastered but you can get this kind of thing.
The pound shop also sells a version of it, which is the same as Amazon sell

Edited

@Wahine24 which Poundshop sell these?

Great bargain idea!

Wahine24 · 21/08/2024 08:15

@PaulaTrilloe , I meant they sell a version of the she wee , which seems to be exactly the same as non branded ones my phone/internet was being iffy so I hadn't realised I'd missed a bit off, I updated late once realised x

Gymmum82 · 21/08/2024 08:22

If you’re working you should get access to the nice toilets. Shewees are great but they do take practice. Sometimes I get it. Sometimes I end up with pee down my leg

CableCar · 21/08/2024 08:25

Airdustmoon · 20/08/2024 13:25

No advice OP - I’m a hoverer - but you’ve reminded me of when I worked at Reading Festival way back in the early 00s and I spent one shift on the women’s loos offering free promotional shee-wees to any brave pioneers who fancied skipping the long queue and coming to the female urinals to try them out!

Was about to say similar in that when I went to the reading festival in the 00's they handed out free ones!!!

PaulaTrilloe · 21/08/2024 08:35

If I am traveling long distances with unknown toilet situations I've found wearing high capacity tena lady disposable pants with a pair of period pants on top works pretty well

You can buy the pants 10 for £8 from Tesco, Suoerdrug, Boots etc

I use an old plastic bag or nappy bag to dispose of them in a bin after.

Capacity is good did get stuck in a traffic jam with no chance of escape to loo freedom in time and it absorbed holding about 750 ml of pee.

Phew!

PearlClutzsche · 21/08/2024 09:23

Haven’t tried a shewee… I always meant to. I just got back from a festival a couple of days ago and used the “Peequal” squat urinals. I was reluctant because their marketing says they’re for “womxn” (sic) 🤔 but got on with it because of queues.
Peed all over the place! Couldn’t get it all in the small receptacle.

So I usually just used the normal festival toilets, but wiped everything down with antibacterial wipes first!

This sounds a bit crass but i found you need to get the sticky out bit at the back right up between your butt cheeks, once i did that it clicked. Took a few goes to get the knack.

This. The sticky out bit needs to be a lot further back than you expect. Definitely practice in the shower

You've got me confused @Thursdaygirl

The sticky out bit (the funnel part) is supposed to be like a 'penis' and be at the front of your undercarriage as if poking out of your trouser fly (as in a man.)
If it's behind your bum aren't you using the she wee back to front?

Why not read one of the 1,200 reviews?

because asking for first hand experience is better.
