Is one of the headlines on the BBC webpage?

🙄

Isn't it similar to when other famous peoples children are in the headlines, like the Beckhams are. I know who his father is but not much about what he does.

Perhaps if they did something newsworthy but a relationship breaking up? Really?

Are there other threads commenting on what’s happened or asking why the heck this is news and despairing slightly at the fact that it IS?

Pathetic isn't it. The BBC may as well rename themselves Closer Magazine. 🙄

Instaflan · 14/08/2024 19:42

Yeah it’s bonkers. But it’s especially annoying that people keep making threads about the same thing.

ichundich · 14/08/2024 19:47

Look on the bright side…Surely it’s quite reassuring that this is a top news story, rather than some other awful thing that could have impacted negatively on many people’s lives.

A slow news day is a good news day.

Only that it isn't:

  • WHO declares mpox public health emergency in Africa
  • unprecedented number of heat records broken this year
  • Ukraine is fighting Russia on its own territory
  • arrest warrant issued against Ukrainian citizen for blowing up the Nordstream gaspipeline
  • war in Gaza & ceasefire talks
  • Thai court removes prime minister from office
  • US approve weapon deal for Isreal
  • at least 68 people die in Sudan floods
But none if this more newsworthy to the BBC, it seems! I hope they'll get a lot of complaints.

I bet the residents of Ukraine were devastated by the news!

LittleRedHen77 · 14/08/2024 20:05

GingerScallop · 14/08/2024 17:38

Well what else is there to report? That reported deaths in Gaza are now at 40,000? That these are still countries that haven't signed the declaration prohibiting attacks on schools, students in war? That yet another settlement, Nahal Heletz, is being build? Cheaper groceries (that poor families in uk depend on) have increased in price faster than more expensive products? Naaa! Let them read celebrity news

Distraction of the masses...

Scary how many of the masses are distracted by this nonsense.

It's truly embarrassing .

I'd like updates on the soldier that was recently stabbed .
Is he still in hospital , what happened to the lunatic that stabbed him.

Mespher · 14/08/2024 20:44

It must be a distraction thing

JohnTheRevelator · 14/08/2024 20:44

I think it's pathetic,to be honest.

And the little girl stabbed in London.

If I wanted to read about z list celebs I’d read Take a Break. Seems like the BBC is heading a similar way.

. . . and two children that have been missing since Monday hasn't even made the TV news.
If they televised their faces there may be more chance of finding them.

Instead we have to look at some privileged randoms crying about their short relationship ending.

I’d love to hear your opinion on how Z list ‘celebs’ breaking up qualifies as news but if your response makes as much sense as this one then it’s probably not really going to add much to my understanding 😂

I got a "breaking news" story via sky

What a nothing story

LindorDoubleChoc · 14/08/2024 23:32

Yes, there's another thread on exactly the same subject, in AIBU, last posted on just before 9 tonight.

TheFormidableMrsC · 14/08/2024 23:35

I don't watch Love Island but am familiar with the girl and she was in my daughter's social circle a while back because of where we live. It's a shame they chose to have a baby.
