I think that about 90% of BBC breaking news stories tbh.

Are we only allowed to receive ‘high brow’ news? Just because this news is beneath you, doesn’t make it less newsworthy for other people.

Interested to understand why it’s newsworthy? Let alone ‘breaking news’ worthy?

All the news sites need clicks. This is number one on their most read stories of the day. That's why, it's what people read.

It probably really is big news to the 16-30 demographic. A bit like when Steve Wright died many wouldn't have heard of him. I'd heard of them but thought Molly Mae became famous on YouTube, not Love Island so I learned something today!

Think it's good for people to remember that just because they haven't heard of certain celebs doesn't make them superior to others.

In what way are these two comparable to somebody like Steve Wright? What have they achieved? What’s their talent?

@Starlingexpress it was just a comparison that many under 30s may not have known who he is.

From what I know of them he's a boxer and she's an influencer but worked for PLS? I suspect their talents are making a fortune as influencers. They clearly have more money than me as a nurse so not sure I can diss their career choices.

I saw it was headlines in the DM which these things often are, but the BBC, that's not the place for stuff like that

Because they'll have crunched the numbers and found that they need to cover a certain amount of shite to bring more of certain demographics to their website.

I get annoyed by misuse of the breaking news banner (should only be for serious events IMO) and live feeds where you can't get a grip of the actual story, just a lot of vox pops.

Never heard of them in my life. Don't care if they break up, have kids, dont have kids, get back together, whatever.... Just wish the media actually reported on interesting and relevant issues.

Here in Liverpool we know who Tommy Fury Is. He raised millions for Alder Hey and has got their new CAMHS suite a lot of publicity and therefore funding. I'd rather they were discussing Zelensky and how we are now being dragged into a war and how he's sacrificed his citizens for his own agenda. But they've found something that won't make us all question the whole Ukraine and Zelensky situation from the start and how many has been totally hoodwinked.

Imagine tourists all across the UK chilling in their hotel rooms before dinner and switching on the news 😂

@Starlingexpress I thought Molly-Mae was the lady married to a boxer who is from a Traveller background and they have several children and all the boys have a variation of the name Prince 🤷
I vaguely knew she had a baby called Bambi but thought Baby Bambi was just one of her several children.
I assume I have confused two different ladies.

Isn't it similar to when other famous peoples children are in the headlines, like the Beckhams are. I know who his father is but not much about what he does.

Lower down the order (in the less important section) is a story about a doctor being raped and murdered in a hospital in India.
