Travelling to Thailand on an Emergency Travel Document due to < 6 months left on passport

Sorry I know it’s not AIBU but I am desperate for an answer. I have spent several days on the phone trying to find out if this is possible. I need to travel to Thailand for work and have been granted an Emergency Travel Document but don’t have the time to get a visa as it takes 10-15 days and I’m travelling next week.

I have a U.K. passport but it has less than 6 months remaining.

Please help if anybody has any information. I have literally spent days on the phone and am still none the wiser.

Thanks.

It’d depend on your airline; I believe. Have you talked to them?

On gov.uk it states that the entry requirements for Thailand are that you must have at least 6 months left on your passport from the day of entry.

Do you have an existing visa in your passport that would mean you could use the emergency travel doc and bring the other passport as well containing an existing visa?

If you're employed rather than self employed can your employer sort it?

Unless it's in your contract that you always have a passport with over 6 months left can you tell them you can't go, or need to postpone until the passport and visa situation is sorted.

Do you actually want to go and how vital is it you travel next week?

Prob a priority is getting a new passport. I thought some ‘approved’ countries are allowed to get visas when they enter Thailand? I went several times when younger but it was on an Australian passport.

Can you Apply for a same day passport?

I always thought an emergency travel document got you back into the uk if something happened to your passport while abroad.
On that basis, I don't think you can get a visa in it.

However, do you have a valid visa in your current passport? Can you get a same day renewal appointment? I've no idea about visitors visas, but we certainly had a phase where the visa was in the cancelled passport, and the new passport was the one which was valid. That got us in and out of several ME countries.
