Need to lose weight for a wedding - my plan is to cut down on booze, eat lots of salad and fresh veg, eat less carbs and up my exercise regime which consists of a bit of yoga and swimming x5 times a week (I am limited due to back and foot injury). Any advice appreciated!

I should add that I'm menopausal and usually fast on 16:8. Just returning from a holiday and choice of food was mostly junk 🙁

Keto with 16:8 will do it.

I don’t know OP but I am following for tips. Late 40s and nothing seems to shift

henlake7 · 12/08/2024 19:34

Exercise sounds fine, maybe ditch the booze for the month?

TheChosenTwo · 12/08/2024 19:38

Stopping booze does nothing for me (I do enjoy a drink but can and do go months without it sometimes. Doesn’t seem to affect my weight at all (and objectively I have pounds to lose, probably stones in fact, I’m definitely quite soft anyway 😂).
The only thing that helps me shift weight is low carbing in conjunction with my regular exercise (3x1 mile swims per week and 2x spins plus daily walking).
But I do have PCOS and I suspect some insulin resistance at play…

Forget about exercise, just calorie count. 1200 a day.

Scottishskifun · 12/08/2024 19:41

Have you got a fitbit or similar?
It will show what your daily calorie usage is. To lose weight you drop it by 3-500 calories.
For me my daily usage is well below 2000, (around the 1600 calorie mark), so I follow a 1200 calorie diet eat normally just weigh and log meals up veg content and stop calories (including booze!) by 7.30pm.

What is your natural eating pattern if you listen to what your body needs not what you want because it's available or you're bored? Follow that.

Barbaquequeen · 13/08/2024 16:33

Pint of water with a good dash of apple cider vinegar to start the day.
I am sure you will look lovely with or without the stone on. It’s confidence in people that makes them attractive

PeachyKeane · 13/08/2024 16:35

I usually do 2 weeks on the Cambridge diet as a reset after a holiday. I came back last week was 12 stone (!) I've done a week on it and am 7lbs down this morning. I'll do another week then ease off. I'm 54 so menopausal so it can be done.

Fully understand, the booze is the toughest to quit for me!

I do have a bottle of this, I will take it every morning.

Totally understand, I usually do 16:8, have a massive(!) salad for lunch then a healthy, balanced dinner. I have Gousto 4 days a week, the rest of the time I will a chilli/stir fry/soup/salad. I rarely eat takeaways and only eat out occasionally. I did low carb a while back and since then don't have sweets/sugar very often.
