To drown out a man's screaming row with his partner with music in a park?

Basically what the title says. He had her on speakerphone and was just screeching down the phone, shehe was being very meek. There are families here, I didn't know whether to approach him because a) he's clearly being abusive and b) little kids don't need to listen to this shit. I took the cowards way out and put on my own (ska, not offensive) music at top volume. He's just come over after ending the call and was squaring up to me, fists raised and all, so I've gone home.

Did I do anything wrong?

I would have done if I'd known anything about him but he was just a random guy in the park.
