To find this weird? Microsoft Copilot

I typed a general thing in on Microsoft Bing and Copilot AI always comes up at the side with some answers.
Earlier in the day I put a post on Mumsnet saying I didn't feel content with where I am in life and that I was sad about various things and 'what ifs' etc.
When I typed something random into Bing it came up with the usual Copilot answers at the side but underneath Copilot put

'On a different note, I understand that you’re feeling a mix of emotions about where you are in life. It’s completely normal to have those ups and downs, especially when comparing yourself to others. Remember that everyone’s journey is unique, and there’s no one-size-fits-all timeline. You’ve been blessed with a loving family, and that’s something to cherish. If you ever need reassurance or a chat, feel free to reach out!

The thing I put into Bing was nothing to do with this and I had made no other searches about this at all at any point so I was thinking it must be about my mumsnet post earlier in the day. I know its AI but am I being unreasonable to think its weird? Does it store information about what you have typed into other websites?

Yes, the browser will track what pages you visit and what you type. Along with cookies your computer will track everything. As long as you're not doing anything illegal, I wouldn't worry about it!

Precipice · 11/08/2024 23:06

OP, just disable and delete Copilot and then you won't have this issue at all.

parietal · 11/08/2024 23:15

get rid of co-pilot. it tracks everything you do and destroys your privacy.

ThinWomansBrain · 11/08/2024 23:18

you can also try opening "incognito" windows

raspberryspider · 11/08/2024 23:19

To turn off Co-pilot, go to the three lines one on top of the other (the "hamburger" icon) on the far right of the top of the search page, scroll down to Co-pilot settings, and set turn off.

cookies

Thank you everyone, I will disable it

Sometimes I have verbal.conversations with people and afterwards I'll get ads on my Facebook. DH was talking about a tinnitus pillow, which I'd never even heard of, never mind searched for, and an ad came up. Now that's creepy! The co pilot thing is creepy too. I often use it for work and I can never bloody find it when I want it!

This happened to me once. Could have been a coincidence but didn't search for anything, was just talking about having Salmon and pretty much 5 minutes later something came up about 'best Salmon recipes' or something similar to that!

According to Co-pilot it doesn't track you and respects privacy

I've been laughing so hard at this comment that I couldn't post until now.

BOLLOCKS.

You can hide co-pilot, you can "disable" it. But you can't uninstall it. It's always there in the background doing the creepy, tracking thing.

DreamW3aver · 14/08/2024 10:24

I don't have copilot on my own laptop but it comes up on my work computer, what an annoying little thing it is. I was trying to find out something recently and couldn't get the damn thing to stop giving me replies I knew weren't right

JelloOfInfiniteFest · 14/08/2024 12:51

It's more annoying than Clippy. And Clippy could reduce me to swearing and throwing things in about 20 seconds

But at least you never forgot an attachment 😁

LoobyDoop2 · 14/08/2024 19:39

It might be annoying and destroy your privacy and everything, but the way you can tell it to draw pictures is brilliant.

(Yes, I’m an IT professional, can’t you tell?)
