I had broken up with my boyfriend when I was about 18 (so a long time ago) and another guy had invited me over in the morning one day, I went, because I was single and heartbroken. We had a great morning 🤭

Later that same day (not proud of this) My ex called and asked for me to go and talk to him, so I did and well. You can't guess what happened, anyway, obviously wrecked with guilt I had text the first boy from his bathroom saying please don't tell anyone about this morning ex and I are back together.

an hour or so later Ex-Ex walked me home, I needed a wee and asked him to hold my phone while I went and he saw the text. As soon as I came back my phone was thrown at my face, I was called some impolite names and left in the dark to walk home alone, I was a bit reckless as a teenager, It didn't work out with either of them in the end and I'd never dream of behaving like that now.

Many many many years ago I gave all the wage cheques (cheques. That's how long ago it was) out without them having been signed. 🤦.

Filled them in, put them in the envelopes, sent them out.
None were signed. (It wasn't me who had to sign them btw. I had to make sure they were signed. )
It was horrendous all round.

Cerialkiller · 11/08/2024 18:30

Flooded someone's garden.

I worked for a company that did remote garden watering via a web linked irrigation system. Usually there would be several 'valves' one waters the back beds, one the vegetable garden, one tops up the fountain etc.obviousky this was an expensive service and the garden in question was an estate.

It wasn't my normal job to work on this system and I was asked one day to update one of our clients accounts watering areas. Well long story short I swapped two of the valves (because I didn't know how it worked) and the fountain overflowed with a few thousand liters of water while one of the main beds got basically nothing. The client was away so this happened daily for a week or so during July so the plants were half dead and the rest of the garden was a lake.

If you are reading this former boss, I'm still really sorry. And appreciate how no-one bollocked me (somehow). I'm doing good working on my own business and staying away from people and any similar responsibility 😊.

I worked for a garage and managed to order the wrong car. I owned up before it arrived but it no doubt was a costly mistake. I was asked to leave but I was relieved as I bloody hated the job and the awful people

Danikm151 · 11/08/2024 19:43

Added a £12.5m charge instead of a payment to an account at work.
luckily i noticed straight away but no doubt it will be picked up by audit 😂

HappyLittleNarwhal · 11/08/2024 19:44

I was a bored receptionist and decided to use cleaning wipes to clean my switchboard.

Turns out I wiped the 9 button three times in a row...which I only found out about when three fire engines came screaming into the car park of the large manufacturing plant I worked at.

That was fun.

Pieceofpurplesky · 11/08/2024 19:47

First marriage.
And second.

Not doing it again - although one resulted in my fantastic DS.

Cod? Actual Cod?

The single biggest mistake I ever made was moving in with my ex.

Tisfortired · 11/08/2024 19:49

When I was in my first year of uni and in student halls, I had a dress in a kind of crepey material that I wanted to wear that night. My aunt advised that if I turn the shower on and hang it in there the steam will make the creases drop out.

Great. I hung the dress on the back of the bathroom door and turned the shower on. Went back to my room (which was next door) and inadvertently fell asleep. Unfortunately the plug had been in the bath and the shower had filled the bath, flooded the whole bathroom and bottom floor of the halls. Not only that but it was a city centre halls and my room was on top of a Barclays Bank and the water had started to drip into the bank.

Not my finest moment and I still cringe when I think about it! I had to ring the maintenance team for the flats and explain how it had happened… luckily no irreversible damage was done and I wasn’t fined or anything…

Getting married when I didnt want to

RamsaySnowsSausage · 11/08/2024 19:56

Just recently had to reorganise a big meeting online last minute. I did such a good job getting in touch with everyone and sorting. However I forgot to let one person and that person was, of course, the person travelling the furthest. They rang me asking to be let into the building. Still feel so guilty. They were lovely about it though, which somehow made it worse 😅

RamsaySnowsSausage · 11/08/2024 19:57

Oh yeah, and anything to do with my love life 🤣

CosmicDaisyChain · 11/08/2024 20:01

DP left something really naughty at my place so I texted him to let him know what I was doing with it. Trouble is it was my sister I texted….. 😱😂

JamSandle · 11/08/2024 20:03

Infidelity in many relationships especially when younger. Learnt some rough lessons and worked through a lot of self-hatred.

HarliLane · 11/08/2024 20:03

Oh, loads!😂

Decided to clean my ivory piano keys with a powder cleaner. All very shiny…until I played and each key stayed pressed down, clogged with damp powder!
Dad had to strip down the piano, take out every key so that we could wash each, dry and replace.

Stupidly I agreed to an illicate date, in a pub, with a married neighbour. He drove me home.
I had a favourite necklace that I wore permanently.
When I woke, at home, the next day, the necklace was GONE from my neck.
The necklace was my initials!
Absolute, cold panic.
Didn't know neighbours phone number, couldn't ring his house. Rang a friend of his at work, I vaguely knew him (met him once) and had to explain in a very bizarre call.
He quite rightly refused to pass on neighbours number, but did say that he would try and get him to call me.
He did!

Necklace found in his car and before his wife had found it!
Stopped me in my tracks!

Arranging a Y6, end of SATs school trip, I planned in great detail, including checking where we could eat that provided halal food.
NANDO’s - fab, easy, in the city centre.
Great time had by all, parents delighted. Kids happy.
However, unbeknown to me, not all NANDO’s branches sell halal food. Parents realised.
I had a lot of explaining to do.

Pocket dialed an ex whilst having a quickie against a door with new bf...

Tarquina · 11/08/2024 20:08

The worst fuck up I ever made in my entire life was when I sold my house in order to start up a property renovation business with my new boyfriend. The deal was I would buy a dilapidated house and he would do all the work to renovate it, then we would sell it and split the profits half and half.

What happened in practice was that once the house was completely internally demolished and he had me at his mercy, he began to steal from me, abuse me, and when I complained he became physically violent. He had me trapped for five years. I was living in a nightmare. it was like being held hostage.

At one point things were so bad I literally ran to the police station and begged them to lock me up in a cell, because it was the only place I felt safe from his violence. I only managed to escape from his clutches through a miracle.

I would never ever ever get involved with a man financially again.
