The uncatchable snail..

For about 2 months now every morning I find a snail trail in the living room. Could be a slug I suppose. Mostly the same journey of sofa to window and patio door but sometimes he broadens out. Try as I might I cannot find this snail, I've even come down in the night to try catch it as has my husband. I've pulled everything from under the sofa and can't find it. The doors are completely sealed so it's not coming in from outside. How is it still alive?!

Based on it's journey I think it's trying to get out and id love to help it but I'm getting close to just covering the whole floor in salt. Any other ideas?.

Going on past experience I’d say it’s a slug. We used to get this with our old patio doors, when we didn’t realise that the wood at the bottom was rotten. Not had it since we got new ones.

It will be a slug. They have no bones (!), and can squeeze through the narrowest of gaps. We also have one that comes in under the patio doors, you can barely slide a piece of paper in there.
If you want the nuclear option, put salt down

I put salt in the door sill. Then no more come in.

leave an apple core in the middle of the room when you go to bed. Then when you come down to look for it that’s where it will be.
or a saucer of beer.

Yes a saucer or small ramekin of beer will catch it, do you have plants? Ifso check under them as thats where i found our interloper, snuggled in the plant pot in the moistness under the pot.

I caught the little fecker finally, a middle of the night wake up call from the baby I thought may as well check and found a slug in the middle of the living room. Has since been removed! Thank you so much all
